License tagging for Image:Vermont st.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Vermont st.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Uploading images - Commons[edit]
Hi DirectG. While I share your pet peeve for second hand smoke, I have another one: images uploaded to Wikipedia that should be uploaded to Commons. I noticed Image:Dabirds.jpg on Gull, which is the image topic I'm focusing on at the moment. I'll move this soon, but please make sure you upload to Commons in future (and if you'd really like to make me happy, you could even move some of your uploads there). NowCommons: Image:Dabirds.jpg[edit]
Image:Dabirds.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:Seagulls flying by SF skyscraper.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Seagulls flying by SF skyscraper.jpg]]. Re: Sunset Gallery[edit]
I removed the gallery like I've done so many times in the past. It happens so often, people take nice photos of sunsets and then attempt to showcase their media on the project but you have to remember, this is an encyclopedia, Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files. You have to ask yourself whether the images your adding really enhance the article in any way. The article is small and when there are too many images, it clutters it up. There is a commons link clearly visible there in the article, consider uploading your images there instead. — Possum (talk) 13:11, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Table at Thomas Newman[edit]
Hello! That's a great table of awards and nominations you put up at Thomas Newman — it's informative and it looks pretty too. Just a minor comment: could you change the first columns to be "Award"/"Year" instead of "Year"/"Award"? This is for two reasons: (a) one usually expects to read down the first column and see entries for different keys, but here the years come and go, and (b) it's a bit hard to map the years to the corresponding rows, because of the gulf that one has to jump over.
I'd make the change myself, but I don't want to upset your work; also I'd have to do each row by hand, and maybe you're using some tool? Shreevatsa (talk) 04:13, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Shreevatsa! Much thanks about the table... As a big Newman fan, I wanted to establish how many awards he's been up for through the years with more than a little asterisk here and there. Yes, I'll probably try switching the year and award columns. When I first started making the table, I was thinking of sorting it all out by year, but then I liked organizing it according to the actual award. By that point, I'd already begun with the year listed first, so I finished it that way. It should be rearranged by tomorrow. is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.
If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

Thanks for uploading File:CSUMB BBC01.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
