Modern US Target Drones[edit]

Hi there. The article Modern US Target Drones which you contributed to seems to be a verbatim copy of the content at http://www.vectorsite.net/twuav02.html - are you the author of that page? If so, please send me an e-mail so I can post a notice which states that you allow the content to be released under the GFDL for editing and distribution on Wikipedia. At the moment, the substantial similarity between the two pages is a copyright violation and will be deleted within a grace period of a few days. Please take a look at this page for an idea of a similar notice which I might place on the page. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me on my talk page. Thank you! --HappyCamper 18:03, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see...I took a closer look... http://www.vectorsite.net/sitemap.html seems to state that all written materials are in the public domain. Nevermind then; my apologies. --HappyCamper 18:13, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Public domain material[edit]

Hi JimBo4212, let me apologize first if my posts up there offended you; as an administrator, it is not often that I encounter a contributor who is consciously adding public domain material to Wikipedia. Very often, I see newcomers do a cut-and-paste of copyrighted content, and these pages are generally deleted on sight. I'm sorry that I initially did not look into the source of your contributions in more detail.

From a cursory glance, the material you are adding seems to be in the public domain, and this is wonderful for Wikipedia! I will take your word that you are adding only public domain material. If you encounter problems where another administrator has deleted public domain material which you have added, please let me know, and I will uncover the articles for you. Also, please don't hesitate to ask questions, I'd be more than happy to help you. --HappyCamper 19:24, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to subpages on other pages[edit]

If I understood correctly: you want to a specific section from one page to another? You can try this...

  • Let's say, you wanted to link from your talk page to a particular section of my talk page; say, a Christmas greeting I got the other day. You can use User talk:HappyCamper#Merry Christmas, and this should work. If it does not, try replacing spaces with underscores: User_talk:HappyCamper#Merry_Christmas. This sort of linking is not used very often though, and I remember reading somewhere that there is a little caveat behind it. I can't think of it off the top of my head, but if I remember, I'll let you know.

I see you've figured out how to change your signature too! That's good :-) I also noticed that there is a new user by the name of MrG - if he really wants to have his content on Wikipedia, then I think it might be best that I contact him directly; with so much material, it might be beneficial to make an "official" WikiProject which is dedicated to porting over the data. --HappyCamper 20:21, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Major changes[edit]

Hi Jim, I have made a number of major changes to the article which you initially submitted; renaming certain articles so that they are more in conformity to the style guide here on Wikipedia. I've also changed how some pictures are displayed, so if you get a chance, take a look at how I have done so. Today, I sent an e-mail to MrG; I hope to hear back from him to see what ideas he has for these articles as well. --HappyCamper 04:17, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm...[edit]

Maybe if we just worked on fixing up what you have moved over so far, that would suffice? --HappyCamper 18:44, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there is ever information that is "too much for Wikipedia" - in fact, there is a project right now which involves porting over all the material from PlanetMath over here. I sent him an e-mail as well just for my peace of mind that all the stuff is in the public domain. If you want these to be deleted, let me know - I have no problems with this as long as we are the only editors to the pages. --HappyCamper 18:48, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is worth while. I understand he is busy and isn't interested in a "committee writing effort". Most of the information is there now, and just needs reorganization. I'd say give it a little bit and see if you get a response asking you to delete what is there. --Jim 18:54, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't received any deletion requests, so I think it's okay to continue. Let's just focus on cleaning up what exists on Wikipedia first, and then worry about updating the pages. It does not matter that Wikipedia does not have the most up-to-date information. It matters that the information is sourced and accurate. It seems that we have that right now, but the articles just need a bit of reorganization. I know next to nothing on the topic, so if my reorganization is not desirable, please feel free to change it. My concern now is to finish the template so that it is easier to navigate to each of the subpages. --HappyCamper 19:14, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Twuav001.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Twuav001.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 05:08, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article United States Battlefield UAVs (3), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? NuclearWarfare (talk) 23:11, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Twuav023.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Twuav023.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:45, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
