==Speedy deletion of [[:Wikipia SUCKS!]]==
[[Image:Nuvola apps important.svg|32px|left]] A tag has been placed on [[:Wikipia SUCKS!]], requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per [[WP:CSD#g2|CSD g2]].

Under the [[WP:CSD#General_criteria|criteria for speedy deletion]], articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please [[Wikipedia:Your first article|see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article]], and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add <code>{{tl|hangon}}</code> on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add <code>{{tl|hangon}}</code> on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. HOW'S MY EDITING?
Please review me at Wikipedia:Editor review/Into The Fray
Feel free to leave me a message here. I may respond here, I may respond on your talk page. It all depends on what I happen to feel like at that particular moment in time.

POTUS

I was always taught, and likewise teach my students, that the word president, when used to refer to POTUS, is always capitalized. It differentiates that high office from other presidents (corporations, home owners' associations, fan clubs, etc.). Using the lower case when referring to the President is a recent, inelegant, and troubling affectation. Newspapers, for whatever reason (an attempt to use less ink?), are the chief promoters of this practice. Unfortunately, it seems to have caught on. If Wikipedia chooses to follow this path, shame on it. Paddymc68 16:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Shame"? That's rather strong language. We are talking about an elected (mostly) official of a free republic, not a monarch, heirophant or dictator. --Orange Mike 14:28, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Mike, in an entirely more articulate way than I could have managed, explained this well both here and on your talk page. Personally, I don't really care. I just read the manual of style and that's the consensus here on Wikipedia, so that's why I reverted the edits. I didn't write the MoS. Into The Fray T/C 06:11, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Me, articulate? I'm an uppity bogtrotter peasant (redneck variant) by origin and attitude; never much of one for deference to the self-designated "better" classes in general. --Orange Mike 13:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't report this user until we have given him a chance to reply to my message on his talk page. If he continues to edit and not reply, then I think we should go ahead and block him. (By the way, as it is not blatant advertising, you may well be breaking the WP:3RR if you revert again. Thanks. Tiddly-Tom 23:09, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He has had every opportunity to respond to messages on talk pages and his link is borderline at best. I doubt highly that I'm in violation of 3RR by reverting him, but I'll let you handle it if you feel inclined. Cheers. Into The Fray T/C 23:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly suspect User talk:Hidden2m of being the same person ;) Tiddly-Tom 23:28, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. Fairly unsubtle both in edits and user name choices. Into The Fray T/C 23:40, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

THE ELECTRICITY COUNCIL CONTRACT - ENFIELD 8000 - A VALID SOURCE FOR THE WIKIPEDIA STANDARDS?

I have the Electricity Council contract in PDF format and, I believe, you will find it useful and revealing. How do I sent it to you? Please answer on my user page or both, yours and mine. Constantine Adraktas 12:59, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No probs, You've beat me to it heaps tonight :-) --Bencomplain 02:25, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism

You're welcome! and next time someone reverts vandalism in your user space, consider using {{substvangel}} to thank them! :) — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 03:36, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

heh. FYI, I decided to remove the header part, so that you can just + a new topic, fill in the subject and put in the template. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 03:49, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Equalrightscrusader

I should have known *grrrr*. Sorry about that. Got too nice. --Amaraiel 03:50, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aaron Waters

Thanks for letting me know -- I was horrified at the thought that I might have accidentally speedied a userpage and thinking, "Geez, am I doing this too fast? Maybe time to take a break..." -- You may want to keep an eye on this young man since he's currently redirecting his userpage to a red-lined article that apparently will be about himself again <sigh>. Thanks for your help. Accounting4Taste 04:59, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Twinkle

Do you know if Twinkle works in vista I.E. 7? --Amaraiel 05:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Green County Daily News

I have addressed this with the admin (the person who is originally responsible for the post and he says he will continue to do so. I say it's time for someone hire up to step in before legal action is taken. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Greenecountydailyworld (talkcontribs) 14:27, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Say what? ˉˉanetode╦╩ 14:34, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh... ˉˉanetode╦╩ 14:35, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Edit conflict, probably. I went to mark the page with {{advert}} and in the meantime someone deleted it, so NPWatcher created a new page. I was confused too. Into The Fray T/C 14:36, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Or . . . no. NPWatcher created the page. I meant to tag Cancer Therapy & Research Center with advert. I'll just do it the old fashioned way. Into The Fray T/C 14:37, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Curiouser and curiouser! I didn't know that NPWatcher could create new articles, seems... hypocritical of it do so :) ˉˉanetode╦╩ 14:42, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Confused the hell out of me, that's for sure. All is well now, though. Into The Fray T/C 14:43, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers buddy

Just wanted to say thanks for reverting vandalism my user page, I'm quite impressed 69.113.27.13 did it 3 times in a row, lol how futile. I take it ur to thank for reporting him to the admins yea? Well I thought I'd use this happy occasion to get one of those "vandalised counters" u have, know how I get one? Ryan4314 21:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WTF?, indeed

I'm not sure what to think; but I'll probably monitor his(?) contributions for a while, just to be safe. --Orange Mike 23:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Day

Active day so far? I've been in class all day. Sorry I missed all the action :( --Amaraiel 21:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've been meaning to ask Nawlin or Persian this question, but has there been any activity on the September 11th attack page? Seeing as today is Sep 11th I was expecting it to be massacred. --Amaraiel 21:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Need an Admin at AIV

AIV Heavily backlogged, i'm letting Nawlin and Persian know as well. --Amaraiel 15:50, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flattering, but I'm not an admin. Good luck to you with the vandal fighting!  :) Into The Fray T/C 19:01, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

username controversy

Thanks for the notification. It was just an angry mob of McCain supporters. --knivesout8 19:10, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was one individual, hardly a mob. I doubt that it was politically motivated. Please remember to remain civil and assume good faith. Into The Fray T/C 19:26, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A few SF recommendations

With the usual warnings that one fan's Mede is another fan's Persian:

...and on a different day, I'd probably give you an almost, but not completely, different list.

I'll add these author's names, not quite entirely at random: Vonda McIntyre, Suzy McKee Charnas, John Varley, Octavia Butler, Marta Randall, Lee Killough, Elizabeth Lynn, Jessica Amanda Salmonson, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Suzette Haden Elgin, R.A. MacAvoy, George R.R. Martin, Emma Bull, Pat Murphy, Pamela Sargent, Lois McMaster Bujold, Barbara Hambly, Nicola Griffith, Melissa Scott, Sheri Tepper, Delia Sherman, Mary Doria Russell, Nancy Kress, Elisabeth Vonarburg, Nalo Hopkinson, China Miéville, Patricia McKillip, Eleanor Arnason, Matt Ruff, Robin McKinley, Sterling Lanier

I could go on for hours. --Orange Mike 02:31, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do book reviews professionally, have for years; it's a pleasure. --Orange Mike 02:53, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User:Pio

Did you read the suspected sockpuppetts? The ip that has been reverting it is User:Pio. (If the allegations are correct) If I am wrong, a am sorry that I mistakenly reported a user. --Pupster21 Talk To Me 12:47, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. This guy was really getting on my last nerve and I guess I crossed the line. Won't do it again.

BassPlyr23 12:47, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi:)

Thanks I guess, I must tell you that i lost control for a bit LOL :) but hey you learn from your mistake, A admin is currently holding me a Twinkle break for couple a week, after that let's see if I can handle it, btw thanks for this warm support. have a nice day ;) Nick10000 20:57, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aww, cmon

Don't you like Smile-A-Thons? ~*Giggle*~ ArielGold 18:46, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S., the user reverted, or thought they did, so I figured they'd fix it when they noticed it didn't revert all of them, lol. ArielGold 18:47, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Into the Fray!

My dear new friend, I simply couldn't leave your wonderful, heart-warming, beautiful gift and words unreplied. It's not everyday that I see a combination of good humor, politeness, cheer, cool username, and the most self esteem-bolstering kind of flattery in one person! ;) Know that your extremely kind thoughts, although totally undeserved, have earned you a new friend in me, and in fact, when I keep on bothering you with endless series of smileys and silly poems, you'll wish you'd never visited me! ;) Seriously, thank you, sweetie. I have noticed you a lot, in fact, and it's a double pleasure to cross paths with someone whose work I admire, and who's obviously as nice as you. While I'm visiting you, let me tell you I noticed your beautiful userpage, and I thought "hey, the awards section can be enhanced a little...." so I stuck my fingers in it. I hope you like the result, but if you don't... reverting can do wonders ;) Lots of love, Phaedriel - 06:14, 17 September 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Wicked slick! I love it and it balances the colors much better. Of course, I can't really take credit for my own user page to begin with. Other than switching to some stodgy colors, I really had little to do with. I'm about as graphically inclined as a dog chewing on a crayon. In any event, I appreciate the change and have no intention of reverting it. Thank you! And it's nice to "meet" you. Into The Fray T/C 06:21, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: (User talk:ais523) r..e..d..n..u..t/ t..o..m..i..k..a

I'm not sure either; in such cases, I generally ask admins experienced in username blocks via WP:UAA, which is what I've done here. --ais523 16:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
