Rollback (add request)

As a former user of VandalProof, I humbly request rollback so that I may use huggle to undo vandalism. Ry Jones (talk) 06:07, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll probably approve this, although the lack of more recent activity leaves me hesitant, before doing so though, I just wanted to ask you about warning vandals after reverting them. Are you aware of this practice? (Of course, Huggle would automate all of that) - Kingpin13 (talk) 22:24, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will admit I wasn't aware of the practice of warning vandals.Ry Jones (talk) 02:59, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Will you be more diligent in warning vandals if you are granted rollback? Dabomb87 (talk) 16:21, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've put some more consideration into this, and decided to mark as  Not done. Sorry, but you've just not been active enough recently for me to feel comfortable approving this. You have only five or so edits in the past year, and only around 20 in the past two. Get yourself updated on current practices and policies, and then please feel free to re-request. In the meantime, you might want to try out Twinkle, which is a fairly useful in-browser script, with some similarities to huggle. - Kingpin13 (talk) 01:18, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I would be grateful to you, if you could grant me rollbacker rights. They could assist me in combating vandalism. Dcirovic (talk) 18:25, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) I looked through your first 1K edits or so and unless I missed something, not 1 single reverted edit, why do you need rollback ? If you want to start fighting vandalism I suggest using Twinkle and after you get 50 or more sound reverts then re-apply. No Admin is going to grant your request without any reverted edits to judge by. Good luck. Mlpearc powwow 18:54, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done} - to Mlpearc - "Need" is a rubbish argument when it comes to user-rights. The tools don't rust if you don't use them. User has 2k edits and tenure. Pedro :  Chat  21:10, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You know I thought I could learn something by helping at WP:PERM, the only thing I can think of that I've learned is , every Admin has their own set of criteria which brings me to the conclusion that I'm wasting my time here. Enjoy your prerequisites or the lack of. Fastily I do appreciate you talking me into giving it a second try, and I'd love to stay but not like this. Mlpearc powwow 01:12, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) Oh come on, you can't leave me in a page full of admins! They'll steamroller my {{nao}}s without someone to back me up!!! --The Σ talkcontribs 01:20, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, they're steamrolling us anyway, but thanx for note GO get 'em Mlpearc powwow 02:43, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mlpearc, Pedro sometimes uses flat language with hitting corners, but I suspect he didn't mean to intentionally slight you. I should have given the requester a similar response as you did. But Pedro is using his experience and judgement to take a call here. So yes, some administrators do do that. But most administrators I have followed on this noticeboard follow approximately similar benchmarks. So do reconsider your decision; and be around, it's appreciated, considerably. Wifione ....... Leave a message 23:25, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Wifione for your recognition, I have also received similar messages from The Σ and Pedro I do appreciate all the support. I will return to clerking at WP:PERM as I do enjoy it very much, just one request ....if anyone has any comments or suggestions to anything I do here, take it to my talk please . And again thank you all. Mlpearc powwow 23:57, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it would help me greatly in fighting vandalism on this wiki, I have it on Simple English Wikipedia, so I know how to use it responsibly. chrisianrocker90 19:48, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No. Too many concerns per your block log at this time - far too soon to be asking for extra bits. Pedro :  Chat  21:12, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not marking as not done as another admin may wish to review, however. Pedro :  Chat  21:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done You got relief from a community ban yesterday! It's far, far too soon to be asking for extra flags. Courcelles 21:18, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If I may ask, what's the harm? I'm not asking for adminship, I'm asking for a tool which I have on another Wikipedia to fight vandalism better. Just curious. chrisianrocker90 21:26, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment)Rollback used to be for admins only, I think, in ye olde days. And you might edit war. --The Σ talkcontribs 21:36, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've never edit warred with tool, and haven't edit wared in quite some time, not to mention anyone can have a dumb moment and edit war with it, including admins. I'm not gonna sit here and argue this, I have articles to tend to. chrisianrocker90 23:26, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am a reviewer in the german wiki and have the possibility to rollback several article edits. I would be grateful if I have this right in the english wiki too. Simon.hess (talk) 09:35, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. You have little to no recent experience fighting real vandalism here on Wikipedia. If you want the rollback tool, show us that you need it! Go to Special:RecentChanges and make 50 or so vandalism reverts, either with the undo function, or the userscript, Twinkle. Once you have done that, come back and request the tool again. -FASTILY (TALK) 20:31, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm an OTRS volunteer (Verify) and file mover on en.wp. Even though the need doesn't arise too often, I'd appreciate rollback privileges related to OTRS (especially BLP) cases. Asav (talk) 10:28, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
 Done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:38, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Someone at my talk page, I'm guessing an user with high privilege, suggested that I'd come here and request this feature since I happen to catch vandalism quite a lot and do my best to revert those to a state of acceptable quality. So, if he's not alone in thinking I could benefit from such a feature, I'd most certainly try my best to make good use of it. Hopp (talk) 12:51, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) Hi. Just a heads up — admins usually give rollback only to users who are editing very frequently, and since you've made only nine edits in 2011 before this request, your request might end up being declined at this time. Your vandalism reversion looks good though. Regards, Tommyjb (talk) 13:04, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info ! That'll certainly be no problem as I in fact wouldn't make the request by myself if it wasn't for someone else pointing out I might make good use of it, so little really changes if it gets declined. I'll still be reverting vandalism as I'm sure it'll keep popping up frequently. Thanks again ! Hopp (talk) 15:44, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if I have little to no experience [I fail to see how being recent would be of any value,] thanks, but I won't be back to request it again. I'll just keep reverting vandalism as I was before I came here. Thanks for the quick response ! Hopp (talk) 07:05, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't wanted nor asked for rollback rights previously, thinking all I needed was the native "undo" button. I have reconsidered that position due to this string of four edits, which is extremely tedious to fix without rollback. I expect I won't use this tool exceedingly often, but in cases like this I would very much like to revert the edits myself instead of leaving the page that way while awaiting someone to come fix it. Thanks! ☯.ZenSwashbuckler.☠ 16:54, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Question: What are your feelings on warning vandals after reverting their edits ? Also have you considered using WP:Twinkle ? Mlpearc powwow 17:04, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Poor research on my part - I didn't realize Twinkle a) had that much power or b) was that readily available. To answer your first question, I always leave a template on IP talk pages when I undo vandalism; I may have been a bit less diligent when undoing AGF edits, but always make clear in edit summary that I'm not trying to be a WP:DICK. So I will take Twinkle for a spin, see where I end up with it, and come back here later if I still think I need to.
Request withdrawn. ☯.ZenSwashbuckler.☠ 17:35, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I hope I didn't scare you off, (I hardly ever use rollback) Twinkle is so much better, you have rollback (kinda) and a warehouse of templates just a click away, much more versatile IMO. Mlpearc powwow 17:47, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not to worry - mere bureaucracy-minimizing on my part. Hadn't realized what a wide array of tools are available just for the clicking, without need of getting special rights. Else I'd never even have brought it up. Thanks for your time! ☯.ZenSwashbuckler.☠ 18:03, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem, anytime Mlpearc powwow 18:11, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Per above. You're on the right track, and quite enthusiastic about reverting vandalism, which is definitely not a bad thing. However, the high proportion of mistakes and initial lack of warnings sent to users whose edits you revert is concerning. I believe you would benefit from having a little more experience. Keep up the good work, and come back and request the tool in a week. -FASTILY (TALK) 03:48, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd find this very useful for reverting vandalism or my own silly mistakes. Auntie Beeb (talk) 03:43, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
