Ahmed bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud (born 1940) (Arabic: احمد بن عبد العزيز آل سعود ) is the youngest of the Sudairi Seven of Saudi Arabia's royal family. He has been the Deputy Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia since 1975.[1] He is a senior member of the Saudi royal family and a candidate for the succession to the Saudi throne.
He is a son of King Abdul-Aziz and Hassa bint Ahmad Al Sudairi.
He has called for a "border fence" between Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The plan for the fence was initiated in 2006 and he has stated repeatedly it will not become a "segregation wall". [2]
On November 29, 2010, he attended the Crown Prince Cup, an annual horse race, in place of a sick Crown Prince Sultan.[3]
He publicly reiterated the law prohibiting women from driving in Saudi Arabia after the arrest for Manal al-Sharif for her publicly defying the law.[4] He stated that the Ministry of Interior only enforces the law of the land.[4]
[edit] 2005 Pakistan earthquake
In November 2005, he visited Pakistan for three days and examined the extent of destruction caused by the Kashmir earthquake from an airplane.[5] He promised to provide Pakistan whatever needed for the rebuilding process after the earthquake.[5] He encouraged all Muslim nations to provide aid to Pakistan.[5] He also condemned terrorism and stated it was incompatible with Islam.[5]
