[edit] Biography

De Cadenet is the daughter of racing car driver Alain de Cadenet.[4][5] She began her career as a co-presenter for The Word, a late-night Channel 4 magazine show.[6][7] She also co-hosted The Big Breakfast.

Her first marriage was in 1991 to Duran Duran bassist John Taylor by whom she had a daughter, Atlanta.[8][9][10][11] The following year, de Cadenet moved from the U.K. to Los Angeles. The marriage lasted until 1997.[4]

Upon arrival in L.A., de Cadenet embarked upon a short film career, appearing in Four Rooms by independent film maker Allison Anders, Fall, and Brokedown Palace. But her career then turned to photography.[12] She worked for magazines such as Spin,[13][not in citation given] Jane and Harper’s Bazaar,[14] among others. In 2005, she published a book entitled Rare Birds.[6][4] Her other celebrity popular culture subjects have included Drew Barrymore, Sofia Coppola, Demi Moore, Olivia Wilde, Mary J Blige, Keanu Reeves, Beck Hansen, and the members of The Strokes.[6]

In 2006 she married Strokes' guitarist Nick Valensi,[10][11] with whom she has twins.[1][11]

In September 2008, de Cadenet was mentioned in various news reports when her brother, Richard de Cadenet, who was at the time an anti-terrorist officer with the Metropolitan Police, was jailed for 10 months after pleading guilty to spending £73,000 on his Metropolitan Police American Express Card. Of 415 payments made with the card, only 28 were found to be legitimate and the remaining monies have yet to be recovered.[15] The money was used to take his mistress to Thailand, and to pay for an executive box at a premiership football match as well as a £9,000 family holiday to Mexico.[16]

In 2010, de Cadenet photographed the American reality TV star Kim Kardashian for the 22 November cover of People magazine, who profiled Kardashian for her thirtieth birthday.[17]

In 2011, it was announced that de Cadenet will be the host of a new television interview series called The Conversation, airing on the Lifetime Channel, with Demi Moore as a co-executive producer.[18]
