English language[edit]

According to WP:ENGLISHTITLE, "article titles are written using the English language". Why is that policy not followed in these articles? WWGB (talk) 06:58, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's a really good question, and I came here to ask it, too. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 20:48, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because they aren't articles, they're disambiguation pages. We allow non-English redirects. When a redirect has more than one possible target, it's turned into a disambiguation page. Ergo we have to also allow disambiguation pages with non-English titles. – Joe (talk) 21:26, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but that essay essentially tells us (in the Rationale section) that such redirects are discouraged. Right now, we've one editor creating well over a dozen such disambiguation pages a day with Kanji and Mandarin characters, and it's really hard to determine if they're correct, or not, as they're all unreferenced. All disambiguation pages are unreferenced. – Joe (talk) 07:32, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
