Categorizing in a parent of a parent of a parent[edit]

It is incorrect to use Category:Historic houses. That category does not include such specific instances. This is properly 3 levels lower at Category:Historic house museums in the United States. We have divided these higher level categories by country.

Moreover, these are not Category:Monuments and memorials (statues, obelisks, landmark objects or art objects such as sculptures or fountains.). Not properly Category:Monuments and memorials to United States Founding Fathers.

William Allen Simpson, good catch on the Historic Homes category, although I personally dislike using sub- sub- sub- categories which just serve to hide topics. Monuments and memorials does fit, however, as they contain "landmark objects". The page Landmark includes, boldfacing mine: "In modern usage, a landmark includes anything that is easily recognizable, such as a monument, building, or other structure. In American English it is the main term used to designate places that might be of interest to tourists due to notable physical features or historical significance." Although I can see your good faith in thinking this category doesn't fit the parent category, it seems to fit well. Randy Kryn (talk) 09:55, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
