Chandigarh University (formerly Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gharuan(CGC Gharuan[1])) is a private university in Mohali, India. It was set up in 2012.[2]

History

Chandigarh University is an Indian institute for higher education established under ‘The Chandigarh University Act’ and is recognized by UGC. Located in Greater Mohali, Punjab, CU is the largest university in the vicinity of Chandigarh with more than 40,000 students from all across India and 20 countries around the world. Before becoming private university it was a private college ‘Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gharuan’ affiliated to Punjab Technical University and, since 2009, known for top University merit positions and Placements.

CU is a residential university with separate hostels for boys and girls housing more than 20,000 students. The university is broadly organized into seven institutes, providing education through more than 70 programs including doctorates, post graduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines taught by more than 1000 tenured faculty members.

Academics

Chandigarh University provides an excellent academic environment and individual learning space. Course curriculum are designed after contemplating real-time inputs from industry experts, national and international academic leaders and to match the standards defined by national (NAAC & NBA) and international (ABET) accreditation bodies.

Joint Campus Placement Programme (JPP)

Chandigarh University (CU) has announced its most awaited[citation needed] Joint Placement Programme (JPP) for Year 2014-15 Batch based on the success of JPP 2014[citation needed] as more than 219 Multi-National Companies. Joint Placement Programme (Jpp) was started by Chandigarh University this year. Since its launch, Joint Placement Programme (JPP) of Chandigarh University (CU) has provided job placement opportunities to more than 54,000 students of North India with more than 1000 Multi-Nationals recruited students so far under the program.

Region’s Leader in International Partnerships

In an endeavour to provide international academic exposure, research opportunities and placements, Chandigarh University has become North India’s first university to have tie-ups with more than 100 top ranking international universities from all across the globe. Chandigarh University has signed MoU’s with more than 100 universities from 33 countries which includes universities from USA, Canada, UK, European Union (EU), Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Middle- East and Asian Nations. CU have partnered with 100 universities in which more than 36 Universities have QS World Rankings and are ranked among the top 700 Universities of the World. The list of partner universities also includes University Of Salamanca, Spain that carries 798 years old legacy and has figured amongst the top 100 Universities in QS World Ranking in the domain of Modern Languages, Fine Arts and Humanities.
