Dan Guerrero (born November 10, 1951) is the athletic director for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).[1] He is currently serving as the chairman of the Selection Committee for the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament.

Career

Prior to his current position, Guerrero was Athletic Director at UC Irvine (1992–2002) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (1988–92). After his first two football head coach hires, Karl Dorrell and Rick Neuheisel did not live up to expectations, disappointed UCLA fans started a grass-roots online petition to remove Guerrero from his position as Athletic Director of UCLA. As of December 1, 2011, there were over 2,000 signatures collected. Fans and alumni have also withdrawn athletic and academic donations and at least one fan has returned UCLA clothing to Chancellor Gene Block's office.[2][3]

Education

Guerrero received his Bachelor's degree in History from UCLA in 1974 on a baseball scholarship as a second baseman. He earned a Master's degree in Public Administration in 1982 from Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Personal life

Guerrero, who was raised in Wilmington, CA, is married to the former Anne Marie Aniello. Their two grown daughters are Jenna and Katie. He is a fan of Stan's Doughnuts in Westwood Village. Also, he has a love for all things Italian and is particularly fond of Chianti.
