Arvind S Kashyap is an Indian cinematographer who works in Kannada cinema. His popular works include 777 Charlie, Kantara and Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare among others.
Career[edit]
Arvind Kashyap is a Mechanical Engineer turned Cinematographer. Starting out in the film industry as an Assistant Director on the project ‘Lucia’ while still studying engineering, he quickly gravitated towards the cinematography department. His hobby ‘Radio Control Flying’ seamlessly merged with his love for cinematography, making him one of the pioneers of RC Helicam operations in South India back in 2014. This venture granted him a bird’s-eye view of the bustling sets and massive productions across Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films. His journey provided him with invaluable learning experiences, as he worked with luminaries in the field, including Natarajan Subramaniam, V Manikandan, PS Vinod, RD Rajashekar, Thiru on more than 150 projects.
As an independent cinematographer, Arvind debuted with the Kannada anthology ‘Dayavittu Gamanisi’ (2017) and did additional cinematography for the grand spectacle ‘Avane Srimannarayana’ (2019). He has further shot notable hits like ‘Bell Bottom’ (2019), National award winning ‘777 Charlie’ (2022), ‘Kantara’ (2022), ‘Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare’ (2023). His keen interest and involvement in all departments of filmmaking has helped him become a constructive collaborator, allowing him greater control of the visuals.
