"If Only You Were Lonely" is the sixteenth episode of the eighth season of the American television medical drama Grey's Anatomy, and the show's 164th episode overall. It premiered on February 23, 2012.[1] Written by Matt Byrne and directed by Susan Vaill, the episode was viewed by 9.06 million Americans.[2] In her review of the episode, TV Fanatic's Courtney Morrison gave the episode 4.4 stars out of 5.0, and opined: "I have said it before and I am saying it again: Loretta Devine is amazing. This woman deserves an award for her work on this show."[3] Following up with Morrison's assessment, Devine was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards—an award she won the previous year.[4]
