Jillian Michaels was born in Los Angeles, California on February 18, 1974.[2]

[edit] Career

Michaels began her career in exercise because she was overweight before her teenage years. She showed a picture of herself when she was twelve years of age on the daytime syndicated medical talk show, The Doctors on January 6, 2009 saying that she was 175 pounds (79 kg). As a young adult, her mother enrolled her in a martial arts class, which was a new beginning for Michaels.[3] Thereafter she dedicated herself to helping the overweight transform their lives and their bodies for the better.

She uses a blend of strength training techniques with her clients, including kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, plyometrics, and weight training.[4]

According to her official homepage, "Jillian lives in Los Angeles. She is a celebrity advisor to National Day of Dance for Heart Health, an organization that encourages people to make exercise fun and to laugh, learn and dance to a healthier heart."

Jillian Michaels hosted a Sunday talk radio show on Los Angeles' KFI (640 AM).

On October 21, 2008, she launched a new video game called Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for the Nintendo Wii.[5][6]

Michaels's business partner and manager is Giancarlo Chersich. Together they operate Empowered Media.[7]

On October 20, 2009, NBC announced that she will be starring in a new reality series entitled "Losing it with Jillian Michaels". Casting for this show has not yet been completed.[8]

[edit] The Biggest Loser

Michaels was the Red Team trainer until 2006, when she was replaced by Kim Lyons. She returned to the show in 2007 as the Black Team trainer, competing against Kim Lyons' Red Team and Bob Harper's Blue Team.[9] Lyons decided not to return for the spring 2008 season, leaving Michaels as the only female trainer. Along with Bob Harper, Michaels was also a trainer in the Australian version of the show.
