Dissident?[edit]

Not sure if the category "Soviet dissidents" really applies. Since I'd gone to the trouble of finding it, I've put it in, but someone who knows more than me may want to remove it. Interesting article, by the way.--HJMG 12:31, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think he was intentionally a dissident at all: in fact he was rather committed to the Soviet revolutionary ideals. But like so many he was judged by the authorities to be out of line and was treated as if he was one.Cenedi 15:02, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to clarify something, after the decree of 1932 all proletarian arts councils were disbanded and replaced by the centralized unions, as such Mosolov can't have been thrown out of the Association of Contemporary Music in 1936 "for public drunkeness" either this happened before 1932 or he was thrown out of the centralized Composers Union (this was very rare, and whilst it happened to plenty of writers in their union's, was not common practice in the composers union, composrs were of course ostricised but it would be significant if Molotov was actually removed from the union altogether). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.237.144.89 (talk) 09:27, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Updates[edit]

I'm wrapping up a series of major edits to this article that are the fruit of a few months of in-depth biographical research into Mosolov. I'm not happy with the musical style section and I think the musical works section could be greatly expanded, but I'm overall content with the state of the article now. I feel as though the issues listed above have been properly addressed and that the article has gone from a rather poorly cited article to one that is fleshed out, cited properly using reputable sources, and even containing two images. I will continue to work on this as I'm able to, because I need to finish a list of his works and expand and rewrite the musical style section, but until then I am happy with this page. The stress mark on the Russian version of Mosolov's surname at the start of the article is in the wrong position I believe. It should be Mosolóv. Indeed it should be Mosolóv. In the Russian Wikipedia it is written that way and I have just listened to an introduction of the opera Opera Plotinus (Опера Плотина) on YouTube. Clearly the speaker introducing the first act of the opera says "Mosolóv". Therefore I've changed the article accordingly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edmond V.O.
