Proposed merge with Atlas (opera)[edit]

same article, one is album and one is on the opera Shaded0 (talk) 19:20, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose They are not the same article. Atlas (opera) is about the work itself. It's just a stub now, but in can and will eventually be expanded to include a more detailed performance history, background to the work, critical reception, original cast of singers, synopsis etc. By the same token Tosca (1953 EMI recording) is a separate album from Tosca and Porgy and Bess (Glyndebourne album) is separate from Porgy and Bess. Album articles and articles on the works which they record have quite different requirements. Frankly, the current article on the album, Atlas: An Opera in Three Parts, is extremely poor. For example, there is no need whatsoever for listing the names of all the session musicians, and there is nothing about the album's critical reception, its sales figures, etc. and it's referenced solely to AllMusic. The entire article consists solely of verbatim copies of the AllMusic track lists and personnel lists. If any merge were to take place (and I oppose that), the album should be drastically cut and merged into Atlas (opera), not vice versa. Voceditenore (talk) 07:33, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose: Vocedtenore said it better than I could. If merge, the album should be merged into the opera, where recordings usually are listed. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:59, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
