dates and personalities[edit]

Hi - - If this battle took place in 1757, it could hardly have been fought by Tipu Sultan, who was 7 years old that year. Is the date wrong or information about who fought it? - - Anon

Hi - - I see that in the earliest version of this page, the date is given as 1787. I am therefore reverting the date of this battle to 1787. - - Anon

The article is another evidence of this website NOT being neutral in displaying facts[edit]

Evidence: (Introduction passage) " It was waged between two forces commanded by Tipu Sultan of the Kingdom of Mysore, and Colonel William Baille of the British East India Company. Baille was given only 1,000 reinforcements from General Munro. "

The final sentence is intentionally biased. It forces the reader to sympathize with the British and assume the fault of the defeat of Colonel William Baille was the lack of reinforcements rather than the fighting prowess of Tipu Sultan of Mysore. That such a sentence is placed in the introductory passage is itself suspect. A false sense of righteousness of the British in the 18th and 19th century has affected many authors who are sources for the article. But since 'Wikipedia' serves all the people of the world and not just British, it needs to place facts in an unbiased manner and not use the internet medium to proselytize nationalism. I would be grateful if you remove the justification part of the article. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sajjanajjas (talkcontribs) 07:31, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
