Untitled[edit]
Clearly non-neutral in tone but reasonably well referenced. Should probably be reduced to a couple of sentences in Insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir but I don't know enough about the conflict to feel safe doing that. andy (talk) 09:58, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
This is a neutral article and refers to the recent uprising in Kashmir and the role of Social Networking sites especially Facebook in it. Facebook played its part when all the media houses were barred from publishing any news. Censorship in Kashmir → Censorship in Jammu and Kashmir – This article is about Jammu and Kashmir (state) and Jammu and Kashmir (union territory) administered by India. The current titled reflects to the Kashmir, a region which is also administered by Pakistan (Azad Kashmir). It doesn't talk about Azad Kashmir therefore, the current title be moved to the proposed one. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 10:46, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose, Since there is almost no or minimal censorship in Jammu division it is not suitable to change the page to Censorship in Jammu and Kashmir. The main censorship has been in Kashmir valley only, by changing the name it may also include censorship of Jammu division. However changing the name to 'Censorship in Kashmir Valley' is suggested. 511KeV (talk) 12:11, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- 511KeV, internet has also been banned in Jammu division and its a part of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory). If the page is renamed to the Censorship in Kashmir Valley (Kashmir Valley), it might be redundant to add content about Jammu in this article. Moreover, Article 370 was a special status given by the government of India to the whole erstwhile state and was responsible for internet banning across the union territory. - TheBirdsShedTears Sir censorship in Kashmir has been from a long time with a different cause to avoid protest by Kashmiri youth. Keeping in view the nature of Blocks of Internet there is a big difference in Kashmir valley and Jammu. Jammu has seen minimal censorship and with a different cause. The lead of the page suggests the censorship is due to Kashmir conflict which is much more specific to Kashmir valley than Jammu.
