Dardic Peoples[edit]

I agree that this page should be renamed Dardic Poeples and that pictures and a distribtuion grid should be added.

The various Dardic groups account for over a million people and if tehir nieghboruing groups, the Iranic and Indo-Aryan peoples have such high quality pages on wikipedia, so should the Dards.

How do you say that there are just one million people of dardic descent. If dardic is taken as a linguistic group then kashmiris who are speaker of koshur language are also dardic people and their population is over 5 million. I think dardic people article must include all groups in northern pakistan and kashmir whose languages are of dardic descent namely, gilgit , chitral , kalam , kalash, chilas and kohistani and the kosher speaking people in the valley of kashmir.

Article Hijacked by indians[edit]

Since when do dards have anything to do with india, why is this article been written in such a way to over emphasize the presense of Dardic peoples in country's where they dont really exist such as in india? why are indians so dilutional and complexed. why do indians have such an inferiority complex when it comes to anything pertaining to Pakistan? Wikipedia really needs to control and warn these indians who vandalize wiki sites!

Hmmm... Let's see. First of all, your contention is that Dards are not present in India. But then, Jammu and Kashmir is categorized as an Indian state. You have repeatedly tried to incorporate a term "Dards in disputed Jammu & Kashmir". Now, if that is incorporated, then in all probability, you will have to remove "Dards in Pakistan" and "Dards in China" as the regions covered under these headers are also disputed and claimed by India as her territory. My suggestions to you would be to stop pushing your pro-Pak POV and try to contribute in a constructive manner. Oh, and before I forget, if you seriously think that the Indians have some kind of "inferiority complex when it comes to anything pertaining to Pakistan", then there's no point arguing with you. Btw, you can visit the following links India & Pakistan. I think that will give you some idea about who is feeling what. Thanks. Shovon (talk) 17:48, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, for one you wrote that NWFP was a disputed region, which it is infact NOT! and is a region where Dards also inhabit, secondly, Chitral in north west Pakistan is also home to a significant Dardic population and thirdly the region of the Northern Areas, where the Dards personally took up arms, fought and died in order that could join Pakistan on there own and are ethnically distinct and quite different from the people(s) inhabiting the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Furthermore the region of Jammu & Kashmir is disputed until the resolution of the United Nations dating from 1948; not because of what either Pakistan and india claim, but because a plebiscite has not yet been undertaken in order for the people living there to decide, a referendum that has been blocked by successive indian government and the indian military; hence the use of the term Disputed. Furthermore, there is no armed/protest(peaceful or political)/movement in Pakistan by the Kashmiri, quite to the contrary, Kashmiri's are asking for full integration and representation within the government and federation of Pakistan, despite the unresolved status of their region. Furthermore the narrow strip of Kashmir in Pakistan is referred to as Azad Kashmir which translates to Free Kashmir and is still the destination point of many incoming refugees from the disputed Jammu & Kashmir, where many refugee rehabilatation centres/womens trauma centres have been set up for those fleeing indian attrocities. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.63.220.150 (talk) 21:58, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jammu and Kashmir AND the Northern Areas-Azad Kashmir area of Pakistan are BOTH disputed between India and Pakistan. As far as international regulations are concerned, both areas are part of their respective countries until a settlement is reached. Until further notice, Dards exist in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the PRC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.66.31 (talk) 20:58, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NEW WRITER: The people of Kashmir are split politically into 3 different camps, the most popular of which is a stance for an independent Kashmir. That's right: It isn't Pakistan or India that have won the hearts of Kashmir, it is the idea of an independent Kashmir. They do not make up enough of the population for a plebiscite to do any good, even though they are the majority. Look at Bosnia-Herzegovina: They had a plebiscite and they had a civil war, despite the outcome. Pro-Indian control Kashmirs are the larger minority and pro-Pakistan control Kashmirs are the smaller minority. Stop pushing agendas and conspiracy theories. It doesn't help anyone and there is no basis for it.
