    • Photo of crime scene, if possible.
  • Get more details about the shooting
    • How many shots/victims at each point?

NEW

  • update article, some references, photos, and links no longer exist.
    • Place of birth is in conflict, see my post below re: outdated.
  • would be interesting to know if Gil was on Paxil or similar SSRI, as most of these shooters have been on anti-depressants. Not a coincidence.

[edit] Response

It may be notable to talk about the backlash on the goth subculture, and how the membership went up at least 50000 on gothic/industrial culture site vampirefreaks.com with members, simply joining to harrass existing members, the incident is archived on the main page of the website, when the owner (jet) made a post.

Gill had a page on vampirefreaks under the screen name fatality666

The gothic community has since condemned Gill's actions

I believe it is mentionned. --Deenoe 11:29, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

KillThinking is not a notable site. It being created by one of the victims, might merit it being in the external links section, but I do not see how it is notable enough for an article mention. - RoyBoy 800 21:49, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Article is outdated?

I don't know about this case, and do not have time to do more research. After stumbling on to the article I began to read and found that there was information with some links that are no longer there. Also, In one part it states that he was born in Quebec. Yet according to his profile (from a number of sourses), say he was born in Montreal. Just recently an article titled, "Who was Kimveer Gill?" was posted to the Montreal Gazette online. Part 1 (page 2) says he was born at St. Mary's Hospital, in Montreal.[1]. I would change it myself, but I know very little about this event, I've tried to research some of statements, but it is no longer availble now, anyway. I was going to change the place of birth, but noticed it says that "according to..." "born in Quebec"... with no reference, and now a cite needed tag is there. I'd have to rewrite the section to incorporate this new information, most probably the CORRECT info as far as the place of birth, that is. Like I said, I do not have the time to correct the article right now. Just wanted to give a heads up. Jeeny (talk) 16:56, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Montreal is a major metropolis inside the Canadian province of Quebec. Hope that helps. To any Canadian editors it would probably have gone unnoticed, since montreal is so famous that every canadian knows it is inside quebec. It would be more accurate in all cases to say he was born inside 'Montreal, Quebec'.TheDarknessVisible 17:10, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Adding to possible confusion is that the second-largest city in the province of Quebec (in fact, the provincial capital) is also named "Quebec". Saying "Montreal, Quebec" on first reference and just "Montreal" afterward is the easiest, least confusing approach. BryanEkers 20:35, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree with BryanEkersTheDarknessVisible 02:55, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why the fuck did you guys delete my photos?

I took some sweet pictures and got an article written about us in a major newspaper, with myself quoted, specifically about Wikipedia's impressively quick response to the shooting, and you guys just fucking delete them? I lose interest in this place fast when this kind of bullshit goes down. 149.99.188.122 19:43, 1 June 2007 (UTC) Gregorof

Please provide diffs, image names, or something that we can use to establish context and history. Right now, I don't know what you're talking about. --ElKevbo 19:48, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Media & copycat sections

3 things and feeback:

  1. I added a Broadcast Council decision about CKNW and retitled the Jan Wong Controversy section to Complaints about media coverage. She still gets billing - just as a sub-sub-section.
  2. Immediate response is good but has there been any lasting effects yet? Policy changes? Law suits pending?
  3. I'm not convinced by all the copycat claims. You could say that "some police and academics say" it started a wave, but one or two professional's speculation (even if sourced) is not adequate to state it as fact. And it's not clear if all the incidents have sources to verify the claims of being copycat. If the sourcing is the one from the sentence above the list, I recommend referencing it again after each related bulleted item in th elist.

Just passing through. Good work otherwise. Canuckle 17:52, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't feel that "Following wave of school shootings" is a very accurate section title. A few items in the list were not actual shooting incidents, with some speculating on possible school shootings that could have occurred. GCD1 19:09, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Weapons

At the end of the first paragraph, "Nine of the bullets hit the deceased victim.[1]" was said. I have absolutely no idea how it fits with said paragraph, so I moved it here in case someone knows what was the editor's message. Forgot to sign this yesterday :/ Lovok 12:21, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

While the police are credited for their response, the real reason for the lower casualty/fatality rate could be that unlike the Ecole Polytechnique massacre, the killer in this case used a lower-velocity carbine, instead of the higher velocity .223 rounds fired by the Ecole Polytechnique killer. Not sure if something related to this merits mention in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.133.74.137 (talk) 15:42, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Beretta Cx4 Storm carbine Wikipedia page

Evidently the gun rights industry is editing the Beretta Cx4 Storm carbine page. Anytime someone links the firearm to this page it is edited out. Hiding from history and facts should not be the Wikipedia way. Neutralityman 21:23, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

I added referenced information to that article. I do think you're making too much out of it. Canuckle 22:32, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
“Gun rights industry?” What??? No, seriously. What the fuck? Do you assume there’s some kind of industry behind everything you disagree with? This isn’t about “hiding from history and facts.” This is about including irrelevant information in an article. Are you going to go edit the Pontiac Sunfire article to mention Gill drove one, now? — NRen2k5 14:06, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

It needs to be clarified whether the Cx4 he owned was in fact the 422mm version. To date, I have not been able to find any documents or information that confirmed it was in fact the restricted version. There are more non-restricted versions of the rifle than restricted ones which are, naturally, much easier to obtain. The only possible way to know would be that the CFC release the information regarding the firearms he owned. The only firearm that was unquestionably restricted was his Glock pistol, the rifle and the shotgun may or may not have been. Gunnnut (talk) 00:29, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Is there some neutral way to mention that Ravij...

the friend of gill's who threatened to follow suit was also, obviously, an immigrant or son of an immigrant..

this has relevancy not because immigrants are violent.. but because of wong's column based on expert analysis.

Furthermore, the guy who made the pontiac sunfire comment...

In all likelihood this page would link to the pontiac sunfire if some kind of design flaw had allowed him to use it as an explosive to kill people with.

However, a gun, particularly a civilian model with increased effectiveness as a combat weapon that would never be necessary even in a home invasion as it is a carbine - that has significance. I imagine it would be much harder to conduct a secondary or postsecondary school massacre with a knife or club. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.55.14.240 (talk) 12:43, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Merge perp

The article on the perp should be merged into the event under WP:BLP1E and WP:PERP. I note also that the perp's article uses the Infobox Mass Murderer even though he only managed to kill one person, and contains excessive and gratuitous use of quotes of the perp's writings.
