COI[edit]

Editor Dick Clark (talk · contribs) seems to be adding WP:vanity stuff in violation of WP:COI to this article. I also note the additions of a new editor 9 ACRE (talk · contribs) who appeared and made some very specific edits. --Triwbe (talk) 22:17, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have been following this article and making edits on it, is there something wrong with some text I used, I am unclear but what is meant by "specific edits"? 9 ACRE (talk) 23:44, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear 9 ACRE, You are a new user who has made only a few edits to architecture articles, over half of them to this article, and you arrived within minutes of another editor being informed about the conflict of interest conditions. Wikipedia has a strict policy about one person using multiple accounts or asking others to edit for them. Yes I am aware that it can be a coincidence, so please do not be offended and understand, 9 ACRE, that all your edits have been valid, useful and welcome (valid references that you have added are the concrete that makes WP articles stronger) and that I am showing good faith and have not taken any other action. I just hope you do not also have a WP:COI with this article. --Triwbe (talk) 07:11, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough - thanks for responding. 9 ACRE (talk) 15:02, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Im Sorry I am confused - should I stop editing? Dick Clark (talk) 23:53, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:COI would suggest yes, stop, but WP:BOLD says keep on editing and Wikipedia:Ignore all rules says do what you want. Is that any clearer? :-)
In the end Wikipedia:Use common sense should prevail and that would suggest that if you make any edits and no one removes them, then it has been accepted. So as WP:COI says, you can edit but be careful to be WP:NPOV and supply reliable sources. --Triwbe (talk) 07:52, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Much clearer - ha ha - I assume none of the text that is up there is against any Wikipedia rule so can I remove the COI tag? Should I just be WP:BOLD and remove it myself? Thanks for your insights, just trying to figure out the system. Dick Clark (talk) 17:54, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are exactly right, you may remove it. It all comes down to WP:consensus, but maybe you should also read this article to see what you've got yourself into :-) --Triwbe (talk) 19:47, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

notability?[edit]

No disrespect to the firm, but does Dick Clark Architecture really meet notability guidelines? They are well-respected in Austin architecture circles, but I'm not sure the reputation extends far enough outside Texas to warrant inclusion on WP. Opinions? Merger proposal[edit]

I propose merging Dick Clark (architect) into Dick Clark + Associates. I think the content in the architect's page can easily be explained in the context of the firm's, and a merger would not cause any article-size or weighting problems here.
