Accadien[edit]

This article only describes the Cajun version of dirty rice, which is only one variant. Maikel (talk) 08:06, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Picture of the Pork Chop w/ Dirty Rice[edit]

The picture in the article is anything but appealing. I've eaten real dirty rice and a version with just ground beef and they all looked more savory than that picture. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A BETTER PICTURE?-- Avazina, a Born-again Christian! 17:27, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Evolution of Racial Stereotypes[edit]

Pinging @Wikiguy2003: as the main contributor.

This section is a bunch of WP:Synthesis. None of the provided sources mention "dirty rice". The ferris.edu reference used for "[...]such as fried chicken, chitterlings, watermelon, and dirty rice" doesn't mention any type of rice at all.

Also this part:

Ben's Original, well-known and famous for its dirty rice[...]

That's not supported in either source, and Ben's Original actually doesn't even have a dirty rice. It also comes off as a strange type of MOS:PUFFERY. (Strange since it's condemning the brand as racist, but also showing the brand as being progressive for rebranding)

I think this section could be good, if you can establish (through reliable sources) that dirty rice is a stereotypical food, and if you can establish that Ben's Original's rebranding is a good example of this stereotype being acknowledged/fixed. But currently it's a pretty bad addition to the article.Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[ᴛ] 03:55, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

+1, that section doesn't work in its current form. 2601:901:203:F890:219B:7AB3:E0C3:2BD4 (talk) 03:35, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think @Wikiguy2003 will contribute further edits to the Racial Stereotypes section as their edit was part of a course assignment for a course that has now finished. Perhaps the section could be condensed and merged with the Origin section. 24.80.7.100 (talk) 17:49, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
