Dory's WWF debut?[edit]

The article has it listed as January 1986. However Richard Cawthon's well respected WWE site has Dory first appearing on a WWF show on February 3 1984 [1] Has Richard's site been regarded as an accurate source of information on any previous articles? Sasaki 07:14, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This line is not accurate "Dory and his brother, Terry Funk, are the only brothers in history to both hold the title."

Jack and Jerry Brisco were also real world brother and held the title http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/profiles/j/jerry-brisco.html http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/profiles/j/jack-brisco.html http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/profiles/b/brisco-brothers.html

But I don't know if this is sufficient documentation Paulfromatlanta 03:19, 8 February 2007 (UTC)paulfromatlanta[reply]

Jerry Brisco held the Junior Heavyweight title, so Dory and Terry Funk were the only brothers to hold the NWA Heavyweight title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.178.189.197 (talk) 18:41, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese language instructor[edit]

Perhaps this is an unreliable source but I'm fairly certain he was a university professor at some point teaching Japanese http://www.wrestlingmuseum.com/pages/bios/halloffame/dorybio.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.255.118.242 (talk) 14:40, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace of Dory Funk, Jr.[edit]

Dory Jr, was not born in Amarillo. His father didn't wrestle in Texas until 1946. Like his father and brother, Funk was born in Hammond, IN. I don't have a good reference for that, but the "Powerslam" magazine is 100% wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.147.27.180 (talk) 19:09, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Retirement[edit]

I don't have time for edit wars. An IP keeps removing references to his retirement, giving the reason that he's still active in the business. I saw a source for that statement in the article, so I've been reverting it. I didn't exactly check the source until now. I see that it's a bare URL pointing to gerweck.net. I don't spend a whole lot of time on fanboy sites to begin with, and I didn't in this case, either, so I can't say whether the information really is there. Since we're talking about a retirement match held in Japan, surely there are plenty of sources to be had, even if few of them may be in English. Dory Funk is not retired. He has wrestled dozens of matches since 2008 including twice in the last week. See here: http://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=181&page=4 He did have a "retirement" match in 2008, but we should all know that retirement matches in wrestling often aren't kept to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.100.9.161 (talk) 22:18, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
