Middle name
[edit]The Who's Who of West Bromwich Albion lists him as George Thomas Lee. If this is not correct, please provide evidence of this rather than simply removing his middle name. --Jameboy (talk) 13:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- This is quite interesting - Football League Players' Records 1888 - 1939 lists him as George Thomas Lee, but Citizens and Minstermen, A Who's Who of York City FC 1922-1997 gives George Chester Lee. More sources list his middle name as Thomas so I'd go with that, but maybe leave a note mentioning how Chester has also been mentioned? Mattythewhite (talk) 13:46, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
George Lee was my grandad and he didn't have a middle name! I've seen a few articles where he's been listed with all sorts of middle names and nicknames, all of which are inaccurate. Thanks to both of you for your input to this page Rickylee32 (talk) 19:14, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'll leave his full name as "George Lee", but with footnotes acknowledging the middle names quoted in the above sources. If you can find printed references stating that he has no middle name (could be tricky, admittedly), that would be fantastic. --Jameboy (talk) 20:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- If you know his mother's maiden name then you can check the GRO birth index, the nearest I could find is September quarter 1919 York volume 9d page 55 with a mother's maiden name of Slater - this entry has no middle initial given for it. Keith D (talk) 12:15, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
I have a copy of George Lee's birth certificate and confirm that no middle name is recorded.Rickylee32 (talk) 09:11, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
