Sam Insull??[edit]

I was walking around Graceland today and came upon a grave marked Samuel Insull. Insull was the first President of Commonwealth Edison and a nationally known utility tycoon in the 1920s. I was a little surprised that someone so noteworthy was never included in any of the numerous tours I've taken of Graceland over the years. Adding to my surprise is that, according to Wikipedia, Insull is buried in England.

Can anyone here clear up this mystery? Is that in fact Sam Insull buried there in Graceland? The spot I'm referring to is right on the lake, just across from the Pullman grave site.Lafong (talk) 06:07, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Was there an epitaph, and did it say anything about Commonwealth Edison? Absent something like that or a mention in a source like his biography (if there is one), I'm inclined to think this is merely coincidence. siafu (talk) 15:25, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How about dates of birth/death? Could have been his son, Samuel Jr., or his grandson Samuel III, both of whom are supposedly in Graceland. (At least, according to uncited claims this article included until 28 August 2010.) Kevin Forsyth (talk) 15:55, 16 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just got a helpful e-mail from Graceland, and you guys are correct. It's Sam Jr. and Sam III, and their wives. It's a prime location within the cemetery (on the lake, right near the Pullmans, Palmers, Burnhams, etc.) so I didn't think the younger Insulls had that kind of wherewithal.
