To Wikipedia editors

I wrote this article on Grayson Boucher (aka The Proffesor). And I just saw it might get deleted by Wikipedia. However I do not feel this should not be deleted. He is a very popular basketball player on the "And 1" Street Ball Tour and a public figure and has a lot of fans, as do most of the And One players. He has been featured in "ESPN-The Magazine", and several newspapers-you can look him up on the net. I also see this is considered as possibly being a "Vanity" article but you can rest assure I am not Grayson Boucher and I am planning to write other articles on other street ball players. Thank you.

- I second this opinion, deleting something because it's not relevant or important to you personally sort of violates the spirit of Wikipedia. It's sad to see people abusing the speedy delete system.

I don't know much about this wiki stuff & editing stuff but I know that this page on Grayson Boucher was the EXACT page I was looking for after watching some of his Youtube stuff after reading about him on ESPN.com He's been in Sports Illustrated, Slam, Vibe, ESPN Mag - it'd be ridiculous not to have this page really.

Ok, this article pretty much has to be deleted by speedy delete, but that has absolutely nothing to do with "vanity" or the relative notability of the person. In fact, I stay miles away from sports stuff, and I've heard the person mentioned on National Public Radio, in a story about Streetball. However, when an article is on Votes for Deletion, you cannot evade the VfD by recreating the article under a new name. Any article that is deleted by VfD must be deleted on sight if recreated. On the VfD, I'd probably vote "keep," for whatever it's worth, but that does not apply to a vote circumvention like this. Note that I will not delete this talk page, as it should remain to show my reasoning for the speedy delete. Geogre 17:30, 15 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Geogre, can you provide a link to the VfD, and/or explain why this is a willful evasion rather than an unknowing/unrelated recreation? A Google News search makes it pretty clear this guy has received widespread media coverage in reliable sources from NPR to ESPN to the LA times. That's no endorsement of the current version, but it seems entirely appropriate that there should be an article about this guy. I've even heard of him myself, and I don't follow street ball at all. -Pete (talk) 01:26, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
