Untitled[edit]

It is irresponsible to revert a whole article after many changes have been made just because one thing is disagreed with.

The "Dominican Order" is more accurately termed the "Order of Preachers" (O.P.) That should at least be the initial mention in the article.

Bishop Guerard, consistent with his belief that the changes were not legitimate, believed that these were merely changes taking place in the Church. It is not accurate to say that he considered "the Church", as a Divine institution, taking an illegitimate direction.

It is not appropriate to say "known as" sedevacantism because Bp. Guerard did not promote that newly invented word. That is why "(see sedevacantism)" is apropos there. If you are going to write about someone, you have to write the facts in accord with what that person would agree with as the facts. I have read most of Bp. McKenna's CATHOLICS FOREVER newletters, and he repeatedly explained these matters in accord with the thinking of Bp. Guerard, his consecrator and fellow member of his religious Order.

Bp. Guerard founded no such "school" as "sedeprivationism". It is not a school at all, nor did he promote that newly invented word. He merely applied the reasons and principles of philosophy to the cause and effect of heresy and published it as a thesis. Some insignificant Catholic "apologist" named Morgan, from a small hamlet in England, made up the word "sedeprivationism". What Bp. Guerard created was an explanation, not a whole ISM, nor a school. It is absurd to create an IST and ISM out of every new argument of reason. For instance, the Church never decided whether souls in purgatory can pray for us or not, and allows us to believe either way. Should we create two different IST/ISMs based on this? The absurdity is obvious. (And, by the way, every IST does not have an ISM - I may be a motorist or pianist, but there is no such thing as motorism or pianism).

Lastly, I changed the date of Bp. McKenna's consecration. It was wrong.

Accent mark or not?[edit]

Is it Guerard or Guérard? --Againme (talk) 19:25, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

succession of bishops?[edit]

If he felt "it was necessary to take action to secure a valid succession of bishops for the preservation of the (Latin Rite) Roman Catholic Church," did he himself ordain any new bishops? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 19:18, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

about the source of the "Church career" paragraph[edit]

I would like to know what are the sources of the "Church career" paragraph, especially about Mgr. Guérard des Lauriers being the Father Confessor of Pius XII, because I know very well Mgr. Guérard des Lauriers's life, but I've never heard about that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.223.114.135 (talk) 10:54, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Excommunication[edit]

The English page claims it was excommunicated, while neither the Italian nor the French pages say so: can anybody confirm it? He probably was excommunicatd laetae sententiae, or was close to, but I don't think he was publically and oficially separated from the Church by the hierarchy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Liberferus (talkcontribs) 09:56, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
