Editing the article[edit]

Haggai’s Wikipedia article is very short. The article contains little to no information on his prophecy and diplomacy with Persians. The article could use information on the Jewish relationship with the Persian Empire. In the section “Haggai and officials of his time” I want to talk about Haggai’s message to Zerubbabel, as he would be the first Davidic monarch restored. The Persian Empire was growing weak, and Haggai saw this at a time where the Kingdom of David was able to rise and take back their part in Jewish issues. I want to create a section titled “Haggai’s Prophecies” and write: Haggai prophesies, in 520 BCE Jerusalem, about the people need to complete building the Temple. If this did not happen, he claimed, there would be poverty, feminine, and drought affecting the Jewish nation. I will also add to this section: Haggai vouches for the prophet having seen the Temple before its destruction in 586 BCE. The source for my information is Lawrence Schiffman, From Text to Tradition, Chapter 3: “Judaism in the Persian Period.”[1] If anyone has comments on these changes, please let me know on my Talks Page. Thank you! NicoleNewman1234 (talk) 16:23, 27 April 2017 (UTC) Nicole Newman NicoleNewman1234, you write that you will add info on diplomacy with the Persians, but I don't see that in your suggested changes. What did you have in mind? Also please watch out for grammar and typos.Chapmansh (talk) 22:25, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
