Diagram[edit]

The diagram needs reworking, there are closed stations and branches missing, as is the turning triangle at Bowes Park. See Hertford East Branch Line. Mjroots (talk) 14:37, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One Obvious Missing (Closed) Station[edit]

The obvious omission is of Stapleford station - between Hertford North and Watton-at-Stone. It was a pre-Beeching closure - but unfortunately I have been unable to find the book I need, in order to check on its date of closure. (And, unusually, for such a matter - sites such as Subterrananea Brittanica are no help) - so I will attempt to continue looking! Hair Commodore (talk) 12:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another station which needs attention drawn to it is Enfield_Chase insofar as it used to be the terminus of the line, before it was extended in the 1920s - and the old station was on a site west of the present one! (The article on that station needs this information added too. 12:36, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Missing tunnels![edit]

There are two tunnels on the Hertford Loop Line - both deserve to be mentioned, and placed on the map/diagram. They are:

 Ponsbourne Tunnel between Cuffley andBayford;

and

 (Great) Mole Wood Tunnel between Hertford_North and the now-closed Stapleford. Hair Commodore (talk) 14:15, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Names of Junctions[edit]

Also missing ta present are the names of the junctions with the ECML at both souther and northern ends. These are:

 Hertford North junction - just north of Alexandra_Palace_railway_station
 and Langley junction - just south of Stevenage_railway_station.

Rolling Stock[edit]

Just wondering if the Rolling Stock section in the infobox should only display stock used to run services on the line, or stock that actually uses the line without stopping, e.g. 365's? Sgreen93 (talk) 04:41, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming the article[edit]

This line is officially called the Hertford Line (see references in article to Network Rail & Quail Maps). It's also commonly known as the Hertford Loop. But it is not and never has been the Hertford Loop Line. (Contrast this with the correctly titled Catford Loop Line - because its official name really is the Catford Loop). I propose renaming this page "The Hertford Line" - since that is its proper name. Fu Manchuchu (talk) 14:01, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've just checked Quail: on maps 14 and 24, it uses "Up Hertford" and "Down Hertford" next to the lines and "Hertford Loop" in the map heading; and the engineer's line reference HDB denotes Hertford North Loop. Either way, please don't use the definite article: we should use either Hertford Loop or Hertford Line, not The Hertford Line. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:28, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose for both proposed names. "Hertford Line" would create confusion with Hertford East Branch Line and "Hertford Loop" is also the name of a cycleroute. "Hertford Loop Line" is the title of the main book covering this line. Lamberhurst (talk) 17:37, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
