Can anyone explain why the article suggests that Walia was promoted to air marshal before becoming "senior air staff officer at the headquarters of the Eastern Air Command". This seems unlikely and none of the sources say so. MPS1992 (talk) 09:52, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@MPS1992: The article reads On being promoted to the rank of air marshal, Walia served as the senior air staff officer at the headquarters of the Eastern Air Command, so I think he was not promoted to air marshal before but as he took took over as the Senior Air Staff Officer. @Krishna Chaitanya Velaga: Yes, that is my understanding of what the article as currently written means. Is there a source which says that he was promoted to the rank of air marshal at the same time as he became an air staff officer? MPS1992 (talk) 15:13, 14 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I ask is that, as you will see in Air Force ranks and insignia of India, an air marshal is a NATO OF-8 equivalent rank (very senior, equivalent to a Lieutenant General in the Indian army), but a senior staff officer would be OF-4 or at best OF-5, a Wing Commander or Group Captain, equivalent to Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel. I have removed the text "On being promoted to the rank of air marshal, ". I hope this is OK. MPS1992 (talk) 18:33, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
