Year of Invention

- A small, rural town in Indiana has held an annual lawnmower race since 1963.
They can't both be correct...can they? Robert (talk) 15:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I noticed this one too. Any suggestions? Think outside the box 12:48, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
I belong to an organization that started racing lawn tractors in 1969. Today we race on a high bank asphalt short track. MLTR-ASSOC.ORG
Today's Featured Picture (May 27 2008)
[edit]Pathetic! Racing lawnmowers as a 'Today's Featured Picture'. To people at the Wikipedia Foundation, use your sensibilities with regards to peak oil, environmentlaism and early-onset hearing loss. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.236.196.130 (talk) 10:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

contradiction
[edit]"The sport was actually "invented" in 1973 in a pub in Wisborough Green"
"A small, rural town in Indiana has held an annual lawnmower race since 1963."

- I attempted to resolve this discrepancy by stating the UK organization independently invented it, although I have no cite for this. In any case the website [1] for the Twelve Mile 500 does claim they've been holding the race since 1963. Nibios (talk) 17:32, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
rednecks in nebraska
[edit]Is the phrase "Rednecks in Nebraska" suitable for Wikipedia?
Never mind I fixed it.
Overall the article is good but it definitely should be expanded. An option to add on could include rules and regulations. I am sure that these vary per county or region but a general expectation for racers and their mowers could be added. This could provide simple insight to someone potentially interested in pursuing the hobby of mower racing. Vmathews102 (talk) 01:41, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
New world speed record
