Not "...in the Chicago Sun-Times"??[edit]

It's referenced "The comic strip does not run in the Chicago Sun-Times" on the page. Why? Is this important? It doesn't run in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review either, after all.--Pittsburghmuggle 22:59, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The accent[edit]

Does anyone know the origin of the letter 'o' with the straight-line accent above it? I can't find it anywhere in the standard character set in the Windows XP "Character Map" application, even using Times New Roman which generally contains every character there is. The only way I was able to find it to show someone was to copy and paste it from this article. - Ugliness Man 11:58, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's called a macron and is used to indicate long vowels in Latin and romanized Japanese.Tastyduck (talk) 10:58, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Official name[edit]

Is "Liō" the official name, or "Lio" (without any accent)? The logo has some straight line above the "o", but I can't tell if that is an integral part of the name, or a layout decision. Most (all?) references I can find to the comic call it Lio without any accent, but then again, this may have to do with typographic restrictions and/or lazyness. Is there a WP:V authority that can state what is the correct title? Fram 08:10, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's safe to say that today's strip confirms that the line above the "o" is an accent and intended to be part of the name, not just decoration in the logo. - Ugliness Man 14:54, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I remember...Liō's name, spelled L-i-ō, appeared at the top of his test paper. In a recent strip where Liō is in summer camp, Liō signs his name at the bottom of a note to his father, again with the accent over the "o". --Wack'd ^{Talk to me! • Admire my handiwork!} 03:05, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Liō's mother[edit]

Since the Gocomics.com site may eventually drop the archives of the strip in the coming years as more and more strips are produced, I'm just pointing this out here. The strip for Dec. 24, 2009 shows Liō's Christmas list. His father is marked off as well as a "Cousin Bubbles". The box next to the word "Mom" is left unchecked. The next two frames show him thinking for a moment and then buying a bouquet of flowers. The last frame shows him leaving those flowers at a grave in a cemetery.
