Family[edit]

I believe his parents are as here, with his father identifiable as the Rev. Thomas Cox (died 1887), born in Australia, graduated B.A. in 1846 at Trinity College, Cambridge (ACAD CS841T2). Hubert Henry Cox, the fifth son, is in Alumni Oxonienses as from Monk Silver (s:Page:Alumni Oxoniensis (1715-1886) volume 4.djvu/336), i.e. Monksilver, rather than Monkshire. Thomas Cox was rector there 1863-9.

Lionel Edgar Cox usually appears as "L. E. Cox". According to a Bath local newspaper, he lived at Apsley Road, Bath, and died in 1946.

@Billinghurst: - any light to shed? Charles Matthews (talk) 08:53, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

s:The Indian Biographical Dictionary (1915)/Cox, Lionel Edgar has a smidgeon. I will start prodding in Crockford's. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:17, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
1932 Crockford's p. 286 calls it "Dorch. Miss. Coll." and continues "... [Geo. Cath. Madr.] 1909-19; ... Dom. Chap to Bp of Madr. 1907-18; Offg. Archd. 1908; Archd. 1910-22; Commiss, Dio Madr. 1908, 1912, 1914, 1916, and 1920; [Furlough] 1916-17, and 1921-22; R. of Lyndon 1922-29. 54, Newbridge-hill, Bath. (Tel. Bath 7522.)

@Charles Matthews: that seems to be the ready information that I can gather, I do see census records for 1871, and 1881, though I doubt that they add more than already transcribed. Does show age of 3 in 1871 census and born in Monksilver, to algin baptism in same year— billinghurst sDrewth 09:45, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, shows in "University of London; London, England; The India Office List India; Reference Number: b2166033~S10 1925, p. 486 Records of Service" same data as around though in prose, highlights three years Colombo, joined service 1st Dec 1898, jr. chap, then sr. chap, April 1909, arch-deacon of Mardras, March, 1910; retd., July, 1922.
