episode length[edit]

The episodes vary in length, just under an hour long.

As broadcast in the US in the first half of 2015, PBS GBH generally prefers to run no more than 55min of original show contents in an hour slot, allowing for a little blurbing at the start and plenty of blurbing at the end; they often edit down the contents to enable this. But they seem to be running the entire original contents of Doctor Blake, which is sometimes a tight squeeze. They are running just a little blurbage at the start, no more than a minute; then 55 to 58 minutes of core contents, then 15 seconds of BBC Shop ad, then a minute of credits ending in a quick series of original sponsor credits. Thus the grand total of original contents is about 56 to 59 minutes, for episodes 101 to 108.

  • GBH 2015 broadcast series 1 core contents length:
101 55min, 102 58min, 103 57min, 104 57min, 105 55min, 106 56min, 107 56min, 108 55min; 109 59min, 110 56min

DVDs[edit]

As of Sep 2015, Amazon US shows S01 DVD as existing/forthcoming here in Reg1, S02 as existing in Reg2/4, and S03 as existing in Reg2/4. Please update table as appropriate -- I am uncertain how to proceed.-96.233.20.34 (talk) 21:41, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Episode descriptions are often copied from IMDb, never give whole show[edit]

The plot descriptions are so brief, and like ad blurbs instead of plot descriptions. IMDb gives this sort of short description, and a few I checked seem to be copied from IMDb, or are a string of questions with no answers. Wikipedia is not advertising these shows, but describing the plots in the episodes. Fairly large events are not mentioned, like Doctor Blake going to Singapore to meet his daughter, and later revealing that she really did not want to spend time with him, she was grown up, has all new ties. No criminal is named in these, so they are not very interesting. --Prairieplant (talk) 19:54, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So I have begun writing Short Summary for episodes, more in the fashion of a novel or movie, that is, the whole plot, not a teaser. --Prairieplant (talk) 03:57, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Layout problem[edit]

When I did this change here, to the Short Summary, somehow the layout for Series 3 table went awry. I have no experience setting up tables myself, but I compared to the other series in this article and looked at other Episodes articles, and just cannot see what changed to make the table go awry. All I have tried is to remove blanks that I added, and then a change to match a table for another article's table, but I previewed that only as it did not work and erased that code. Is there someone who can see what is wrong and fix it? I would be grateful. --Prairieplant (talk) 03:57, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am notifying a few editors who have made changes to the article in hopes one might see how to fix the problem: Leoboudv RolandR Magioladitis --Prairieplant (talk) 04:09, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Adding REVUpminster who worked on tables in years past. --Prairieplant (talk) 04:16, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Returned to original good format so changes can be made again. There was probably one parameter that was altered that put the table out that are often difficult to find. You can edit again but only change text and not anything else. REVUpminster (talk) 05:45, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have copy pasted your original summary back without any problem. Hopefully! REVUpminster (talk) 05:52, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
