I like the old way much much better —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.174.180.114 (talkcontribs) 21:58, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

First of all, please don't remove project banners when editing talk pages, and remember to sign your posts by typing four tildes. Unfortunately the old layout of the list was not very functional. It's now sortable by song title, original artist, Glee performer, episode, single status and album, which is a big advantage in terms of usefulness. It's also the design used in comparable Featured Lists - see List of songs in Guitar Hero and similar lists linked in the bottom navbox. Frickative 22:17, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't mean to remove the project banner. The old layout had all of that too. The only difference is that each episode was in its own table which made it much less cluttered and easier to read. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.174.180.114 (talk) 22:13, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

This version is simpler and less wordy, and sortable for all songs. I think that's more practical. Yvesnimmo (talk) 22:19, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

I find the new design cluttered, full of repeated information and much harder to read. Not well thought out. Frazzle (talk) 16:25, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

In what way is it full of repeated information? In reply to 68.174.180.114, the old layout didn't have any of that - it wasn't sortable at all. Frickative 16:33, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

What the hell do you mean by "sortable." The last way was so much better and less cluttered. Every episode had its own chart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.90.153.233 (talk) 21:15, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

First of all, being rude doesn't get you anywhere. Second, to answer your alleged question, the previous layout didn't allow one to sort all songs; only those from the same episode. What if one wants to sort them all by alphabetically? In that case, instead of getting ""...Baby One More Time", "Billionaire", "Dammit Janet", "Empire State of Mind", etc.", one would get ""Billionaire", "Empire State of Mind", etc." for the first, ""...Baby One More Time", "I'm a Slave 4 U", etc." for the second, and so on. And this goes for every other column. It is more convenient to sort through all songs, and it still has all features the previous design had (i.e. one can still know what songs come from which episode, and in which order, which is the standard unsorted order). Further, this is the format featured lists use. Yvesnimmo (talk) 21:27, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

I still don't exactly understand what you mean by sortable. The other way was always in the order the songs were sung in the episode and I don't know what the problem is with your example. All I know is that the old way was less cluttered and much neater. And i didnt mean to be rude —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.90.153.233 (talk) 23:14, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

There is no problem here. The songs are still in the order they are sung in the episodes. It's just now, with the buttons at the headings (i.e. "Title", "Version covered", "Performed by", etc.), you can sort all the songs. Yvesnimmo (talk) 23:40, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

I understand now. Can you at least put the episode in either the first or second column and bold it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.90.153.233 (talk) 23:22, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

No. Per WP:MOSBOLD, only article titles and table headers should be bolded. And this is a list of songs, not a list of episodes. The songs come first, and naturally, the artists come next to the songs. Yvesnimmo (talk) 23:38, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
You know what? I too feel like the "Episode" column should be put first. And yes, we all know it's a list of songs, but don't forget that they're tied to their respective episode, which is what (I believe) we all look for first instinctively because it's television series: "What is this song they played in that episode?" (Please note that following the reverse logic, "That song played in which episode?", would mean that songs should simply be put in alphabetical order, but guess what? It's not even like that!) Besides, the songs are, if I'm not mistaken, already grouped in episodic order and in chronological order. What harm would it do to put the main criteria—the one which is already used—in the first column? The episode titles might not need to be bolded, but I believe, like others, that they still should go first.

I strongly disagree. Filmography and discography tables have recently begun deprecating the practice of listing year of release in the first row, because in such instances, the film or song/album title is the primary topic. Prioritising episodes over songs in a list of songs would be a regressive step. Frickative 09:10, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
I get your point but must disagree with your statement that putting episodes titles or years of release as first column detracts from the "primary topic": it's only a mean to immediately communicate (or make known to the mind) the method of organization that has been chosen for the given information. According to your logic, then, for example, chapter numbers should be put after chapter titles, or something like that... Ludicrous. Although you state that it's incorrect to be "[p]rioritising episodes over songs in a list", I don't think that putting the episode titles and numbers as the first row necessarily constitutes "prioritizing" this information in the strictest sense; I mean, unless the actual criteria for organization really did change (and from what I've gathered, it hasn't at all), I don't see why you cringe at the fact of putting it first. Also, could you please provide me article links where I can find tables representing this new classification "fashion", as well as links to discussions, guidelines, policies, recommendations and such that back up your claim. I hate feeling left out of the loop. Thanks! (Yes, sincerely.)
• H☼ωdΘesI†fl∉∈ {KLAT} • 11:19, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Recent changes have come about from updates to the accessibility guidelines (although the row header issue, as far as I'm aware, is just a recommendation rather than policy/guideline.) Eg. the discography style guide no longer recommends using dates as the row header. There's an internal reference section on it here. I think the key issue arises from users with screen readers, due to the repetition of the row header before the following rows. Were the episode name the first column, the rest of the data would be illogical to follow - along the lines of "Audition, title: Empire State of Mind. Audition, version covered: Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys. Audition, performed by: New Directions", as opposed to the more self-explanatory: "Empire State of Mind, version covered: Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys. Empire State of Mind, performed by: New Directions. Empire State of Mind, episode: Audition."
At some point in the not too distant future, I'm planning on requesting a peer review of the season 1 list - in light of this, I'll definitely use that as a forum to seek further feedback on the column ordering. Frickative 14:12, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
First of all, thank you for kindly providing all these links I asked you. The WikiProject/Discographies page was especially enlightening. Alright, alright: I give in about the first row. The thing is, like you pointed out, it's pretty much all about these screen readers (accessibility in general). I'd love to know the actual proportion (2-3% maybe?) of Wikipedia readers using such a device to access the material, given all that must be done to accommodate them... Anyway, your collective decision is making more sense in this new light. I'll stop yapping.
• H☼ωdΘesI†fl∉∈ {KLAT} • 05:44, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I haven't made comments before, but I got really upset by the current structure of this page. I wanted to see some of the songs from last night's episode and in looking down at them, I ended up seeing a few spoilers of songs that they're rumored to perform in future episodes. They were just one paragraph break below the songs that have already aired! That made me a bit upset. I like to be surprised, and I don't like to see spoilers in plain view without a warning or links to see them or lots of white space in between or something. Has the collective group doing this page decided that they WANT spoilers right next to the latest episode information, the exact spot many people go to the site to see? I think a separate table further down the page is less likely to spoil some people's fun. With movies there are usually two camps as well, people interested in spoilers and people who are not. In my view, new songs should be separated and labeled with a spoiler alert.71.199.167.159 (talk) 22:52, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry you were upset, but per Wikipedia guidelines, we don't warn for spoilers in any articles. See WP:SPOILER. Frickative 23:02, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

OK, but there are no other spoilers on the page anywhere, *and* you just happen to put them right within immediate and direct sight of the latest episode's songs, where most people going to the site are likely to see. And although you have sources naming them as songs in Season 2, in fact the songs that are simply rumored to be in Season 2 are in fact *not yet* songs in Season 2 (as according to your own pages the producers are often making last minute changes). I would recommend separating the current songs in a given season from the rumored songs. Is different if we have the track list from an actual album release, but otherwise, dual sources or not, they're rumored, not actual season 2 songs.

And just because there's a policy stating you can't mark things as spoilers, doesn't mean that such content that many would consider spoilers needs to be immediately adjacent to the latest episode's track listing. Is just common sense. Am upset ever since I saw a Michael Jackson song listed next to the current episode's song because now I'm running plots through my head as to what they do with it and/or how they get to it. Does spoil some of the fun that otherwise your page seems to support and encourage. Thanks.66.188.240.220 (talk) 22:30, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

I think there are two issues here. The first is that even if future songs are split into a separate section, the natural place for that to be located is beneath the current table - meaning it would still be within immediate and direct sight of the latest episode's songs. Per Wikipedia's content disclaimer, the site does contain content throughout that may be objectionable, including spoilers.
That said - my immediate response upon first considering your message is that we don't include "rumoured" songs, rather ones that are confirmed and verifiable by reliable sources. However, on further consideration of Wikipedia's policy on anticipated events, I think an argument could be made that the current arrangement of future songs is in violation of point 3: "Articles that present extrapolation, speculation, and "future history" are original research and therefore inappropriate". While I would refute that the songs listed here are speculation, I accept that if they have yet to be broadcast then they are not yet in season two, so may fall under the "future history" label. I'm at the point of thinking myself round in circles on this one, but I'd appreciate some wider input from editors on how WP:CRYSTAL should apply to this list. Duets

It says here: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Glee-Season-2-1023350.aspx that Quinn and Sam will duet with "Lucky" by Colbie Caillait and Jason Mraz maybe worth a mention?

I decided against it because the article just has them performing it, and it's not confirmed if it's actually part of the show, or just the actors having fun on set. Yvesnimmo (talk) 15:16, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I'm guessing it probably is on the show because it says they are "performing" it. So if they were just having fun, i dont think they would call it a "performance" - yeliretan

Maybe they were performing it for Ryan Murphy to try it out for the episode? Performing can also be for fun; the OED defines it as, "to play or sing (a piece of music) for an audience," and there certainly was an audience (TV Guide people and glee club kids). It doesn't explicitly state the song will be performed on the episode, and I don't think we should extrapolate. Yvesnimmo (talk) 22:08, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I think its pretty safe to assume that in an episode titled "Duets" the song Lucky will be in the episode sung by Quinn and Sam but I can see where you would like to have further confirmation before posting it. I just think that chances are its for the actual episode. Hsm7 (talk) 18:53, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Looks like Slave 4 U is going to be released as a single - currently listed as not being one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llyX-tg8rek —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gandalfmerlinherman (talkcontribs) 19:30, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

You may be correct, but it is not available in the Amazon.com MP3 Store, unlike others from the episode. And without a verifiable source, we cannot include it. Yvesnimmo (talk) 19:40, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
FYI the link is a private video, and audio samples are no indications of single status. Glee's cover of "Montage, Part One: Hello Twelve, Hello Thirteen, Hello Love" was leaked, but was never released officially or included on the show, except as an instrumental. Episode 3: Grilled Cheesus

I believe that we can consolidate the list of songs for this episode. I think Mercedes' "Aretha Franklin Song" is actually Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water." It seems like there are quite a few songs for the episode, so it would make sense if these two songs were actually the same. Thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.228.31.39 (talk) 03:23, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

You may be correct, but a source is required. Yvesnimmo (talk) 03:25, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Aretha song is Bridge Over Troubled Water. Also, it's been confirmed in the trailer that Puck is singing Only the Good Die Young, and New Directions are singing One Of Us :) -- 82.33.38.234 (talk) 18:34, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

That's great, and I saw the preview, too, but a reliable source is required for verification. Yvesnimmo (talk) 20:59, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

On a somewhat separate note, "Losing My Religion" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" will be released as singles as per amazon.com. Can someone update that on the list please? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.228.31.39 (talk) 11:00, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

It's the official previews of the songs in Grilled Chessus... ...--Coin945 (talk) 09:23, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
The problem is, it's not from an official Fox account, just a random YouTube user. They're easy to fake, as evidenced by the section above about "Fix You". Frickative 09:53, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
There is no such thing as an "official preview"; they are just the thirty-second samples you can hear before buying items from the iTunes Store, Amazon.com, etc. And just because we have an audio clip of the song doesn't mean it will be released as a single. The column is for the version covered, rather than the original artist, as they often perform different arrangements to the original. In this instance Aretha Franklin is correct, and supported by The Wall Street Journal reference. Frickative 14:47, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Episode 6: Never Been Kissed

It had been confirmed by Ryan and many magazines that a new character named Blaise will join the cast. It has been rumored that this new character will be Kurt's love interest and Ryan has said he is "keeping his options open" with this new character. This new character will be played by Darren Criss, who played Harry Potter in a parody play put on youtube called "A Very Potter Musical" and "A Very Potter Sequel" put on by University of Michigan students called Team Starkid. This new character will not be going to McKinley, and will be going to a prep school. One of the prep school "students" tweeted that he heard Darren singing Teenage Dream by Katy Perry while they were filming in the prep school set, so it is almost confirmed that Blaise and Kurt will be a couple. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Miriam1216 (talkcontribs) 02:29, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

I Want to Hold Your Hand

The original artist is obviously The Beatles, not Across the Universe. Can someone please change that? And I just remembered that this song wasn't even in the movie, although people do think it was because it was sampled in the original Beatles version of All you need is love and that's why it's in the movie.

-The version covered was the arrangement from Across the Universe, not the arrangement by the Beatles. And the song was indeed in the movie, interpreted by T.V. Carpio. Thanks for the Jane Lynch/Carol Burnett duet link! I've added them to the "Performers" section, but left it out of the song list for now - I don't mind if other editors disagree, but I think as we don't yet know Burnett's character's name, nor if she'll recur (thus can't be certain which episode the song will be in) there's not really enough info to go on just yet. W/the Christmas album, details have been added to the discography page, but we need confirmation they'll be performed in an episode before tracks can be added to the song list :) Frickative 16:48, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, a general rule I go by is if we know at least pieces of information to fill in two columns (ex. performer + song; performer + original artist; song + original artist, etc.), I will add it to the list. One piece of information is not enough, IMO. Yves (talk) 16:51, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Edit request Hot Patootie and source

Can someone change Hot Patootie to Whatever Happened to Saturday Night, it is definitely that song, as the CD has been released. Also, where in the source for Science Fiction Double Feature does it say that it is Satana singing it? There has been no proof, and I would like it removed until further sources are available. 24.79.226.142 (talk) 23:24, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

"Hot Patootie" and "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night?" are the same song; "Hot Patootie" is just the original name. And I agree; I will remove the unsourced performers. I have left a message on the talk page of the user who made these additions. Yves (talk) 23:30, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Regardless of whether they are the same song or not, Glee is using "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night?" as the name on the EP as well as using "There's a Light (Over at the Frankenstein Place)" rather than just the part in parentheses, "Damn It, Janet" rather than "Dammit Janet," and "Science Fiction Double Feature" without the slash. The last three are mainly incidental, but we should be using "Saturday Night" over "Hot Patootie" because that's what the show is doing.24.76.254.47 (talk) 01:23, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
This is a list of songs in Glee, not a track listing. The original track names are always used both on this page, and the page for the first season. For example, Glee uses "Baby One More Time" while the original is "...Baby One More Time" and "River Deep, Mountain High" while the original is "River Deep – Mountain High". Other examples include "Give Up the Funk" instead of "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)", "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" instead of "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", and many more. The original is always used here. If you go to the EP article, you will see that it is called "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night?". Yves (talk) 01:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

How have "Because You Loved Me" and "We Both Reached for the Gun" been confirmed? As per the cited articles, the artist/show is mentioned, but the specific song has not been revealed. Let's be honest, Celine Dion and Chicago feature quite a few songs, so why these two have been selected without confirmation is beyond me. Thanks for any clarification!

Thanks, but nope: that's just speculation. Rivera expressed the desire to perform the song in an interview. Besides, the link is a forum, which is not considered a reliable source so we cannot include that. Thanks, though. Yves (talk) 19:05, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Teenage Dream

Since last night's promo for Never Been Kissed featured Katy Perry's Teenage Dream being performed by the Dalton Academy Warblers, is it safe to make a change now? 189.46.52.239 (talk) 10:34, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Do you have a link for the promo?
a. For verification purposes
b. I want to see it cuz I missed Glee last nite since it was a rerun. - Jasonbres (talk) 13:28, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Here is the promo with Darren Criss singing Teenage Dream by Katy Perry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07SoPS7KSK4&feature=player_embedded Hsm7 (talk) 13:59, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Just a reminder that the only time it's really okay to use a promo as a source is when it's published by Fox directly. Most promos added to YouTube and similar constitute copyright violations, making them unacceptable for use on Wikipedia. Frickative 15:50, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Movie/Show vs. Artist

Why is the version used for Papa, Can You Hear Me? Barbra, while (for example) Sing! is credited to A Chorus Line and the RHGS songs are credited to RHPS? Shoud't PCYHM be Yentl? I mean, I don't get it! 75.68.52.240 (talk) 23:40, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

I believe it is because the song is from a film, while the others are from musicals. Yves (talk) 00:48, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Yep, I think generally if the arrangement is from a film, there will only be one performer or set of performers associated with it. In the case of musicals, the same arrangement could be performed by dozens of different artists over the years. Mostly it just comes down to the sources, eg. this specifically credits Barbra, but this refers only to A Chorus Line, no specific performer. Frickative 01:01, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
ETA: Though now that I think about it, we do just credit "Listen" to Dreamgirls - but the source for that just mentions the film rather than Beyonce. It's not really a hard and fast rule. Frickative 01:12, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Dreamgirls is a musical that was then made into a movie. A better example of what you're talking about would be I Want to Hold Your Hand being from Across the Universe.24.76.254.47 (talk) 18:28, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
The song "Listen" was composed specifically for the film, however. Frickative 18:40, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

The slowed down version of I Want to Hold Your Hamd is the exact same arrangement as in the film. 216.204.206.155 (talk) 12:52, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes it is. Yves (talk) 18:08, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Post-Superbowl Episode

The post-superbowl episode is no longer going to be a tribute episode. I don't know if you can change anything with this link, but I think it would be good information to know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmcouch (talkcontribs) 23:34, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the article! It also has some info on future songs; I'm gonna add it right now! Yves (talk) 23:43, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm really excited to hear they might be covering "Thriller" (:D), but Stack is crediting an unnamed source so maybe we should wait for more official confirmation? Frickative 23:47, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Hmmmm well I generally trust Entertainment Weekly to be a pretty reliable source that doesn't spread gossip, as it is published by Time Inc. and this isn't like the track listing for Volume 4, which originated from the likes of SpoilerTV or something like that (I forget what it was); an album which EW actually has never reported on. But if consensus here decides against it, I'll be more than happy to revert the additions. Yves (talk) 23:58, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
I think any source at all citing an unnamed insider would be a bit dubious, and I'm inclined to think that if it was official confirmation, they'd surely be able to say whether it came from Ryan Murphy, or Fox, or whoever else? But you're right, Entertainment Weekly isn't some gossip rag. It can always be taken out again if contradictory information surfaces. Frickative 00:14, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Yeah. By the way, Fox's official accounts for Glee on Facebook and Twitter are now linking to it, although I do understand if someone wishes to dismiss these. Yves (talk) 01:02, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Reuters has reported it confirmed by Fox. :) Yves (talk) 22:17, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Good stuff! :) Frickative 07:05, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Valerie

If we're adding performers' names and stuff, can we change this song to the Amy Winehouse version? Because she clearly says "Valer-ay", not "Valerie", if you know what I mean! 75.68.52.240 (talk) 12:32, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

The "performers' names and stuff" were added because we have a reliable source for that, which says the version covered of "Valerie" is The Zutons. And to answer your question, I actually don't know because the Mark Ronson song has not seen widespread popularity in North America. Yves (talk) 12:37, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

I know, I know. But... AOL prob said that I Want to Hold Your Hand was by "The Beatles". Besides, I'm not asking to change it now, but when it airs. Listen to The Zs version, Mark's and Naya's and tell me which one hers sounds like. 75.68.52.240 (talk) 16:07, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Gladly, but this can't go on Wikipedia because it is original research. Yves (talk) 00:20, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Okay! That's fine! I just wanted to know what your opinion was. 75.68.52.240 (talk) 12:44, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Look at who they credit it to here: http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/popwrap/exclusive_glee_does_florence_the_TwrbGr84x7LgjAoVKQtW3M 216.204.206.155 (talk) 15:27, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Yup, deferring to the most official source available now, Fox say it was Amy Winehouse's. I'm just off out & don't have time to edit the list right now, but I would support it being changed to Wino with Fox as a source. Frickative 15:34, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I'll add it, since it seems to be the version covered. Yves (talk) 19:56, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Why does it say TBA if it's on the episode page? 216.204.206.155 (talk) 15:28, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

It's not in the episode. Yves (talk) 19:28, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

On the "Glee Super Bowl Episode" page it says it is and on here it says TBA. Huh? 216.204.206.155 (talk) 15:38, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Episode 11 Music

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

The episode 11 songs have been announced. Since this wikipedia page isn't user friendly, I figured someone that has a golden egg shoved up their posterior could post the names of the songs. Thanks Oh Godly Ones. The Resident Evil (talk) 00:47, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Incivility aside, do you have a reliable source? Yves (talk) 00:50, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
I do. And I have tried posting it. But since it won't take, I have given up trying. The source can be readily found in a Google search. It is reliable. Enjoy. The Resident Evil (talk) 21:54, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
As talk pages are for discussing the improvement of articles, please either provide a link, or refrain from posting simply to snipe at your fellow editors. Thank you. Frickative 21:57, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
The Resident Evil, you have edited this page a total of eight times. The first four times, all on 24 November 2010, were to add episode names to songs, all without sources ([1], [2], [3], [4]). The next three were all on 17 December 2010, and consisted of you replacing TBAs with song titles, all of which were, again, not accompanied by any sources ([5], [6], [7]). And the most recent time you edited was on the same day, to disruptively blank the entire table of songs ([8]). These edits show that you have not "tried posting it". I would like to remind you, or inform you, that Wikipedia is based on verifiability, i.e. all information, with some exceptions like common sense, must be attributed to reliable sources. Now I recommend you either provide some reliable sources, or discuss changes on this talk page instead of repeatedly inserting unsourced material on the page. Thank you. Yves (talk) 22:06, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

I hit "show preview" to see if the changes were correctly done. I tried adding sources after hitting "show preview" and going back to the main edit page and was continuously met with "blah blah blah, need sources, blah blah blah". I tried adding sources each time, hence the multiple edits. The sources are reliable, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. Alas, I got nowhere. The other edit, blanking the screen was accidental. I was trying to copy the data into a word document so I could make edits that way and just copy/paste the information later. Excuse me for having technology issues. So, please, take your high and mighty attitude somewhere else. Thank you. The Resident Evil (talk) 05:41, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

The Resident Evil, please try to remain civil. It's unfortunate that you experienced technology issues, and I'm sure we can all sympathise with Wikipedia being a PITA from time to time. The diffs show that your second set of edits to the list remained in the mainspace for over 2.5 hours with no sources added to verify the titles - can you appreciate why such a lengthy gap would indicate that you had concluded editing did not intend to continue at the present time? I don't know what your preferred method is for adding sources, but the templates at WP:CIT are very helpful should you ever experience difficulty. Alternatively, you can always drop links off on the article talk page, and someone should be able to sort it out in a timely manner. I'm very curious to know what your source is, as a Google search for '"Heads Will Roll" Glee' produces no reliable articles within the first ten pages of results. Frickative 08:38, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I've already stated that I am not going to give out the information. Y'all gotta look it up yourselves since you want to be condescending twats! I am not going to hand the information to you on a silver platter (and yes, I realize the source is hard to find...but I back tracked sources on it to verify it's reliability)...I did the work. Now you, high and mighty sons of bitches should have to since you want to make editing the page so damned difficult. Now fuck off and go do some leg work. Civil my ass! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheResidentEvil0 (talkcontribs) 08:36, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Really? What is the point of re-posting this? The Resident Evil (talk) 20:27, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Superbowl's Song Previews

Along with the covers, Amazon released short previews of the songs that are being released, and listening to it, it's clear that it's Lady Antebellum's Need You Now. Is it allowed to change the TBA artist down the list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.103.205.199 (talk) 13:31, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it isn't, because how would someone know that if (s)he had never heard of the song "Need You Now"? You could answer a quick listen to the Lady Antebellum song would reveal they have similar lyrics and melody, but that would be considered original research, and so we need a reliable source to report it. Yves (talk) 17:26, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I read in Entertainment Weekly that it will be Need You Now and that it will also be sung by Puck. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.174.180.114 (talk) 15:37, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Edit request from 216.54.31.210, 11 February 2011

{{subst:edit semi-protected}} Song list for season 2 needs to be updated. As per Tuesday, Feb. 8th's promo, Sam Evans will be singing Justin Beiber's "Baby" and the song is listed twice in your list, neither of which has Sam's name beside it. "Somebody To Love" is by Justin Beiber ft. Usher and considering that the episode features Sam starting a Justin Beiber cover band I think it's safe to assume that it's not the Queen version that they've already done in season 1.

216.54.31.210 (talk) 21:50, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Not done: we need reliable sources for these kinds of changes and something that doesn't require original research or synthesis of material. To say that they are performing a song called "Baby" by Justin Bieber is unsourced, and referring to a preview is original research, since that requires knowledge of the song to make that connection. "Somebody to Love" is actually the name of multiple songs, including one by Jefferson Airplane, Leighton Meester featuring Robin Thicke, Nelly Furtado, and others, so we simply can't assume and piece together (i.e. synthesize) things based on names of songs and plot details. Yves (talk) 06:31, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Can we also remove the TBA for another song by Paul McCartney? Following the link, there's actually no evidence that there will be another Paul McCartney song performed on top of Silly Love Songs, which appeared in the February 12th episode (Paul McCartney is the frontman for Wings...I'm assuming that's why it said there would be a song from McCartney's personal catalogue). "A member of the Fab Four will make his presence known as Glee dips into Paul McCartney‘s catalog....In fact, the Valentine’s Day episode airing February 15 is titled “Silly Love Songs,” with the titular track covered by Darren Criss‘ Blaine."

You forgot to read the sentence before that: they're covering another. Yves (talk) 05:55, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Glee: The Music, Vol. 5!

The next volume is out March 8th. tommy2.net listed the tracklist. Would it be possible to put these songs in the matrix?

Glee: The Music, Volume 5, the next installment in the Glee soundtrack series, will be released March 8th. Here’s a look at the tracklist.

1. Thriller / Heads Will Roll 2. Need You Now 3. She’s Not There 4. Fat Bottomed Girls 5. P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) 6. Firework 7. Take Me Or Leave Me 8. Don’t You Want Me 9. Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah) (featuring Gwyneth Paltrow) 10. Kiss (featuring Gwyneth Paltrow) 11. Landslide 12. Get It Right 13. Loser Like Me

Baraddurmaster (talk) 01:49, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Well, in the past, Tommy2.net's predictions of the tracklist have been accurate, but I believe that Wikipedia lists them as an unreliable source. - Jasonbres (talk) 02:40, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
The tracklisting seems a bit short... There's usually around 18-20 tracks per album, so I figure it's subject to change. Alinblack (talk) 13:07, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

SING

This source (http://www.aolradioblog.com/2011/02/11/glee-comeback-songs-season-2-episode-13/) that's already listed on this page claims that "Sue joins New Directions for a rendition of the new My Chemical Romance track 'Sing',". Doesn't that make possible to merge the two My Chemical Romances song, SING and the TBA that's performed by Sue Sylvester + New Directions, into one? Since we all know that they're one in the same. By the way, isn't it stylized SING, all capitals, instead of just Sing? 189.103.205.117 (talk) 13:11, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

California Gurls

Hi. I don't think Katy Perry's California Gurls should be included on this page, especially since it wasn't covered. It was just the song sung by Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg. Yes the Cheerios danced to it at the start of the Superbowl episode, but they didn't sing it. It's just background music. Otherwise we'd have to include every song featured on the show, even the ones in the background and not covered. Codywarren08 (talk) 01:23, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

It is included in the song list on the official FOX website. It was specifically danced to in the episode and while they do not sing it, they have an accompanying choreographed routine. This is similar to previous dance numbers like "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" thrice in "Preggers", "Ray of Light" in "The Power of Madonna", etc. Yves (talk) 01:34, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately, Glee will be singing Friday, by Rebecca Black

Another source: Vulture, which was repeated by Ausiello on TV|Line. All agree that it's sung by Artie, Sam, and Puck (McHale, Overstreet, and Salling). BlueMoonset (talk) 01:52, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
All of the sources are reporting from Vulture. Billboard, on the other hand, has received news from a different source saying the song may be used on the series. Because of the conflicting news reports, I've hidden the song for now until we get confirmed verification. Yves (talk) 18:37, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Barbra Streisand

As much as i hate this song, i fear it will be covered in Bornt his way, as per the promo which is on many youutube videos (for eg. here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KG_3FJa_9kI), and im guessing also on more official sites. Should this be included?--Coin945 (talk) 06:28, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, when there are reliable sources. Yves (talk) 14:19, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
Isn't the promo for Born This Way that immediately followed the episode last night a reliable source? -- ViRaKhVaR321 (talk) 17:18, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't tell us what the song is. Unless it actually states what the song is, we cannot report what we think it is based on the melody we hear: it would require original research to do so. And who knows? It could be a mash-up. We need to wait for a reliable source to satisfy Wikipedia's verification policy. Yves (talk) 17:25, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
