I think it is a bad idea to state in wikipedia's voice that they became martyrs (not to mention the bad phrasing "they were to become martyrs"). Being a martyr is an inherent POV statement because someone is a martyr only from the view point of the specific group that considers them to have become martyrs. Therefore I would suggest removing or rephrasing the claim about being the "first martyrs" - and if keeping it then supplying a source that states it specifically.·maunus · snunɐɯ· 12:22, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
