Hone in vs home in[edit]

This is a situation where language prescriptivists may prefer "home in" while descriptivists will say that "hone in" has become too commonly used for it to still be treated as an error. Since the usage in question here is within a quotation, we can't "fix" it, but marking it with [sic] may be going too far. jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 21:42, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So you are saying that some people think "hone in" is wrong, and some people don't, and we should be the former? Is this an American thing, because I have only ever heard "hone in" used in this context. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:55, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely, some people think "hone in" is wrong. I did a little web research before posting my comment after noting the recent edits. My conclusion is that the horse has left this particular barn, though, and we just have to accept either. jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:04, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I don't follow what you are saying. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:38, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I also was going to question why the sic was added, because I've only ever known/understood it to be "hone in" given the context. I don't believe I've ever seen "home in" regularly, or an issue come up where someone would insist it is "home" over "hone". - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:06, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We haven't had any problems with anyone not understanding the term either. - adamstom97 (talk) 00:22, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Structure of the Music of the Marvel Cinematic Universe[edit]

I'd like to take the opportunity to sample a key concern that Tenebrae identified with this article (from the post-archival discussion about Marvel Music being merged into Music of the Marvel Cinematic Universe). I feel that it can improve the structure of this article. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 12:40, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tenebrae's comments on the matter can originally be seen here. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:50, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sampling isn't a copy/paste job. What is your deal with removing a direct quote? I credited the person who said it, and I have no personal interest in this particular article. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 18:58, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Musical Themes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe[edit]

This article has been tagged for being merged into this article. I'm not sure whether we should be using the merging process for drafts, seems a bit weird to me, but regardless I think it is pretty clear that this draft needs to be deleted. It is a big unsourced list with no context or other information, and it duplicates a bunch of information that is already here (and should be here). - adamstom97 (talk) 20:44, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, there's nothing of value there that doesn't already exist somewhere else. —El Millo (talk) 20:46, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Agreed. Everything about themes are already covered here. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:43, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Resturcture[edit]

Adamstom.97 you read my mind! I came here the other day and though "something needs to be done here" and I was starting to think of ideas and then you edited! I completely agree that the content for each soundtrack so move out to each article. Perhaps we stick to tables for each soundtrack, and then focus more of the energy and prose on the singles/recurring themes (ie most of Silvestri's stuff)? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:42, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Haha well I'm glad I went ahead with my change! I was thinking it could be closer to the Phase articles with a brief summary for each film/show including any recurring themes used. - adamstom97 (talk) 18:32, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Restructure and split content[edit]

I think we should do a huge restructure in this article and split the content because it's WP:TOOBIG. I started doing some drafts to split some content in MCU phases. I noticed that there are a lot of information/sources we can add to the drafts. Also I started restructuring the article in my sandbox and I would appreciate it if you give some feedback and suggestions. BigLordFlashtalk 21:09, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've thought for the longest time, that it probably is better to move any extraneous info here to the individual soundtrack articles/appropriate music sections, and just kind of pare this down to tables and some of the overarching/common musical elements across the franchise. I think that's a better approach to this, so that might negate needing to split anything out by Phase. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:31, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there are many, many sections that are only one line long. All the info on individual films can be moved to their respective article, while this can be an overarching article on the music of the franchise as a whole. —El Millo (talk) 23:36, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. That way we are not beholden to a making a new section each time another project comes out that just (at this point) ends up as a single line as you've said. Just adding a row to a table. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:43, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I don't think we need individual Phase articles. I agree that info should just be moved to the soundtrack articles or wherever else that makes sense. -- ZooBlazer 00:17, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I'm gonna start doing that. I still think the individual phase articles about music will be important in the future but for now we can't move them for mainspace because they need a lot of work and with the info we have in the article it's not enough to create a individual phase article about music yet. BigLordFlashtalk 12:16, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we should split this to Phase articles. A couple years ago I restructured the article to be an overview rather than have the full details for each soundtrack, but I didn't actually go through and more details to the soundtrack albums yet. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:37, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
