Sources needed[edit]

The dynasty as such must be documented in the historical records. Also, we need all the details why people worshipping serpents could be called Nagavanshis. I mean just because they worship serpents won't make them Nagavanshis. Many other castes also follow that tradition.

Need to expand[edit]

The User 59.163.192.85 is constantly deleting the Jat entry from this article claiming only the Rajputs to belong to this dynasty. It seems speculation. The term Rajput was not invented during the period of Nagavanshi dynasty from 500 BC to 500 AD. The term Rajput was invented about 7th century AD. Thakur Deshraj is one of the prominent Historian. He has mentioned about Rajputs in his book on Jat history page 113-114,as well as The Gazetteer of India Vol 2 (page 307-308), Which deals with the Rajputs writes as under:

"Then between the 7th and 8th centuries the old racial divisions passed away and a new division came in founded upon status and function.... The rise of Rajputs determined the whole political history of time. They made their first appearance in 8-9th centuries; most of the greatest clans took possession of their seats between 800 and 850 AD. ..."

So there is no point in writing Rajputs to belong to Nagavanshi dynasty. The article content mentions the clans of Naga dynasty which are still existing in Jat people. If somebody feels that some clans of Rajputs are from Nagavanshi dynasty then these should be listed and explained to make the claim authentic. There is a need to expand this article as main stream historians are silent about Nagavanshi dynasty rule in India for thousand years. --burdak 03:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Nair genealogy has no sources. And the Tamil Padam Nairs are not of Nair origin. They are from the Thevar community of Tamil Nadu, accepted into the ranks of the Malayala Kshatriya. Therefore, not all Nairs can claim the descent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zero.vishnu (talkcontribs) 10:45, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you saying that Nair genealogy is devoid of sources? Sources are given here.Axxn (talk) 15:00, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Then the sources should be placed here as well, because it is a major claim. I meant this page is devoid of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zero.vishnu (talkcontribs) 05:10, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Already done. You can check now. Axxn (talk) 19:39, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of references to aryan tribes.[edit]

Need to remove any references that factualize "Aryan tribes" this has been proven to be myth. Please reference wikipedia articles "proto-indo european languages" "aryans" "Mehrgarh".142.59.203.143 (talk) 18:52, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Rajimsu123[reply]

I would rather remove Nagas being "Aryans" which were not. Nagas were benevolent beings, similar to Ravanas, Rakshasas, Asuras... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.210.243.70 (talk) 10:08, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Section: Nagvanshi kingdoms and chieftaincies[edit]

Abstract: As referred in main article, Nair kingdoms in Kerala belong to Nagavanshi, being the ancient serpent worshippers. The Travancore Kingdom included in this section belongs to Aayar Clan (yadava+marava) and they are not Nagavanshis. They worshippers of Krishna and Mahavishnu.

In Kerala, Nair Clan is the one who belong to Serpent Worshipper warrior clan. In entire Kerala region there were multiple (20+) kingdoms belonged to Nair Dynasty. Out of these, 2 of them were Non-Nair principalities. Those are 1.Venad Chieftain (a principality of 2km radius), 2.Kolathiri Chieftain.

By the year of AD 1729, Marthanda varma, aged 24, became Chieftain of Venad. At this time Venad Principality was situated in THIRUVITHANKODE village. The name of this village is modified and put as new name for Venad Principality which is known as TRAVANCORE Kingdom.

In 1730 Marthandan has initiated attack against Nair Kingdom called Ananthapuram (capital of Kerala State) with help of British merchant Navy and Maravas from Tamil Nadu. Thus he outlawed the Syndicate of Nair Rulers called "ETTUVEETIL PILLAMAR."

Hence, suggesting that it will be appropriate to change the line item "Travancore Kingdom" to "NAIR KINDOMS OF KERALA." I can provide list of Nair Kingdoms in Kerala.

Below are list of NAIR Kingdoms. Those ending with "NAD or PURAM" is a kingdom and ending with "Desham" are principalities.

Kadathanad (Vadakara Vazhunore) Puthuppanam Desham Kottayam Nad (Purannattu Karanavar) Kurumpranad, Randuthara Desham (Randuthara Achhanmar), Neelesaram Nadu, Iruvazhinadu (Iruvazhinadu Nambiyar), Vengayil Desham Chuzali Desham, Palakattu Nadu, Vettath Desham Parappanadu, Valluvanadu (Vellattiri Nair), Kutharvattathu Desham (Muppil Nair) Kavalapara Desham (Kavalappara Nair Perumpadappu Nadu, Paliyam Desham, Kodassery Desham, Cheranellore Desham, Muriyanatt (Mukundapuram Nambiar), "Mappranam Desham"-"Vellose Nair", Chengazhinad (Chengazhi Nambiar) "Edappali Desham, Moorianadu Nambiar, Corretty Desham ( Koretty Kaimal), Changera Desham (Codda Kaimal) Panamoocattu Desham (Panambakadu Kaimal), Vadakkankoor Desham Thekkankoor Desham Kayamkulam Desham, Pandalam Nadu, Poonjar Desham, Vattaparmpil Desham, Ananthapuram (Ananthapuram consisted 8 Deshams and insted of a Nair King it was Syndicate of 8 Nair Rulers called Ettuveetil Pillamar) and all of above are Nair kingdoms. Every Nair house in Kerala had Serpent Worship place (Sarpakkavu) inside their compound. Vekramaditya 00:55, 30 May 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vekramaditya (talkcontribs)

Please provide a reliable source WP:SOURCES to substantiate the claim before affixing this into the main article. Thank You Outlander07@talk 07:13, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have just stubbed the thing. People need to read WP:V and WP:RS. - Sitush (talk) 17:56, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
