Unencyclopedic Content[edit]

Encyclopedias are meant to be completely Objective, and yet, words like "pleasant" appear in this article around here:

"makes visits to the DMV office even less pleasant to experience."

Pleasantry is a Subjective viewpoint, and it does not belong in the article. Please stick to the facts! --Goatrider 09:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Courtyard or Building unfit for use?[edit]

Does this statement mean that the building or the courtyard was deemed "unfit for use?" "A courtyard divides the portion of the building hosting the executive and legislative branches from the half that hosted County Court until the late 1990s, when the state's Court Facilities Capital Review Board deemed it unfit for use. A new addition was built to its north to house the courts and opened in the early 2000s, at considerable cost and frequent delay." --KJRehberg (talk) 15:18, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The old courthouse is what's meant. Will amend sentence appropriately. Daniel Case (talk) 17:55, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Condition of the roof.[edit]

The article speaks of the roof leaking, but does not mention the roof's poorly maintained condition. Architect Harvey Berg found saplings and other plants growing in the gravel when he inspected the roof after the storm damage. He also found blocked roof drains. These conditions are lethal to a flat roof. Berg spoke at a community rally for the building about 1-2 years ago or so. Perhaps this information is in the Times-Herald Record? (I'm sorry that I don't have a subscription to their website.) I don't remember if Berg spoke of the barrier membrane being exposed or punctured, but if they existed, those would likewise be examples of very poor roof maintenance that carry disastrous consequences. Update needed[edit]

The article needs a major overhaul; I have updated it minimally to indicate that significant portions of the structure have been demolished, but I do not know what plans there are to replace it. Please help if you know more about the fate of the building. Reify-tech (talk) 22:21, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have some photos I've taken of what's left (mostly the concrete structure). I should upload them at some point.

I do admit this article has kind of fallen by the wayside; when I wrote it I was not as busy here as I am now. Daniel Case (talk) 02:13, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
