Janmashtami[edit]

Can someone tell me when the janmashtami/gokulashtami/krishna-jayanti celebrations will be held at the Parthasarathy Temple in Triplicane? I'm sorry this is not the best way to ask, but I need to know urgently!

Thanks a lot. -- Amit — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.164.131.76 (talk) 09:48, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temple Administration / Politics[edit]

It may be interesting to note in this article that there has been a longstanding legal battle between the Tenkalai Brahmin community, the traditional proprietors of the temple, and the government of the state of Tamil Nadu (specifically the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Administration) over control of the temple. Details can be found in the work of Arjun Appadurai. Ancient Infant (talk) 08:13, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incidents section[edit]

The Incidents section looks perfectly sourced and written from a neutral point of view. Hence, I am removing the tags. Please leave a reason here before adding the tags back. --Anbu121 (talk me) 18:01, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Age of temple[edit]

This temple is talked about by Peyalvar (The 3rd Alvar), who lived in the 7th Century(no later than that). How can we say that the temple was built in the 8th century by Pallavas? The last alvar- Thirumangai alvar who lived and died in the 8th century has also talked about the temple. Some clarification is needed on this. The temple's website claim that this is the oldest temple in the city-which puts it before the 7th century Kapaleeshwarar temple in Mylapore(and hence-possibly the first building to be constructed in the Madras/Chennai area)
