[edit]Found another reference for his death. Time ran a short anecdote on his death http://newsfeed.time.com/2010/05/24/slipknot-bassist-paul-gray-dies-at-38/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alidha125 (talk • contribs) 05:29, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Information on death
[edit]Hi everyone, I've been told by a few people that his death was most likely caused by his addiction to Heroin, and that it will show in the toxicology test being done in the autopsy tomorrow. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hittingray (talk • contribs) 01:59, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Speculation and hearsay are in direct violation of Wikipedia's policies on verifiability. Until his cause of death is determined by the coroner and the results are published in legitimate news/media outlets, his cause of death can't be positively determined, and thus will not be reflected in the article.
KirkCliff2 (talk) 06:11, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
I would also like to add to that the section "Death" is partially incorrect, it states that the band has not made a statement to that he is dead but if you go to their website they have a picture of him when you open up their site as a tribute to him. hittingray (talk) 7:36 PM AEST May 25 2010 —Preceding undated comment added 09:36, 25 May 2010 (UTC).
- The bands manager confirmed his death to rolling stones. The same can be verified at the rolling stones' website. 123.236.120.33 (talk) 10:03, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Prateek Mishra
POV, and necessity
[edit]I've edited this page maybe half a dozen times, and every time, it's always the same matter of removing a comment about how Paul Grey is an excellent bassist. This is not a NPOV statement - stop adding it. Additionally, I removed a comment about Anal Blast still being acting. Fine and dandy, but completely out of left field. Let's try and add some cohesion to this article, yes? Nhbelongstome 11:49, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
I want to add the fact that he is not half Hispanic, but half Black. I know because I am his cousin. He is named afterr his father, my first cousin. His grandfather, Dedrick Gray and my father, Adrian Gray, are brothers. He also has a cousin, James Gray, also a bassist who is the founder of the band Four19 in Southern California. This side of his family wishes to reach out as he may not have been given the opportunity to know us. Row Gray - auntierow@yahoo.com
Protect
[edit]This page needs to be semi protected.
jjintheuk: I agree, this page needs to be reverted to before the editing, then semi locked with a statement. After all the details are out, and there is no more rumour it can be unlocked. There seems to be no question that he has died, but it is unclear how it happened.
- Yeah, page needs to be locked, all the little children are already swarming to vandalize it. —ᚹᚩᛞᛖᚾᚻᛖᛚᛗ (ᚷᛖᛋᛈᚱᛖᚳ) 21:32, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks for helping getting the job done. I went to RfP early on, and then it got ugly, fast. It's a shame people have nothing better to do than vandalize Wikipedia articles, but that's what Protection is for. KirkCliff2 (talk) 22:02, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Of note if its being vandalised more than say, maybe every 15-20 minutes from multiple users, then its probably best to bring it up on WP:ANI as more admins watch/read that than watch/read WP:RfPP which is for more "borderline" cases - or at least cases where the page doesn't need protecting immediately to have any kind of control of the vandalism. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 22:17, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'll keep that in mind. That option was considered. Mind you, though I have a reputation for being willing to take the intiative for an article in one way or another, I've never been witness to this kind of attack before, nor have I been the one to request page protection due to dire circumstances. Proved to be a good learning experience, in any case. Any clue if the IPs were blocked to help keep these juvenile delinquents further at bay, or is it of no relevance at this point? Also, just keep an eye out for speculative edits. Those tend to pop up on articles when the recently deceased's passing is major news. KirkCliff2 (talk) 06:05, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

All I request is that more true facts and for him to not be mocked and spoken about the way he is in this article, the poor man passed away and he is being mocked, simply uncalled for and boycotting will be made from myself and many many others if this is not changed.

[edit]It's not really that important, but is it worth noting that Paul plays left handed (as shown in all pictures on the page)
86.31.182.27 (talk) 09:35, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Strangely enough, I couldn't find a reliable source for this. Still, I think it is unlikely to be challenged, so I've added a brief mention and link in the 'playing style' bit. Chzz ► 11:20, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Move
[edit]I think we should move this article to Paul Dedrick Gray, as most media outlets are referring to him by this name. I would go ahead and do it myself, but I just wanted to make sure it would be alright. - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day 15:38, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- I went and created a redirect instead. ×××BrightBlackHeaven(talk)××× 16:21, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Gray almost never goes with his middle name, he's not Maynard James Keenan, Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr. or Samuel L. Jackson. • GunMetal Angel 19:25, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Generally speaking, unless the person has an established history of using their middle name, which most celebrities/musicians virtually never do, the policy is to go by first and last name, and use whatever level of parenthetical distinguishing is needed to title the respective articles. In this case, it's (American Musician),

[edit]{{editsemiprotected}} I wish to edit the part of Paul Grey's article in the masks section, the info about him wearing electrical tape is incorrect, that was their original vocalist Anders who did, he started out with a pig mask and kept with it until Iowa.

- I guess it should be removed, it isn't even sourced. But before it's done, I just have one question, how do you know of this for sure? • GunMetal Angel 19:02, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Never Played Bass
[edit]I saw this interview where Paul said he never had experience with playing bass until he joined the band. Should this be put in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fatguy983 (talk • contribs) 14:08, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Party Clown?
[edit]I've noticed on the page that it describes him as "an American musician, party clown, and songwriter" yet there is no evidence (from what I've seen anyway) that he was actually a party clown. I am almost tempted to remove it as "original research", yet I don't have any evidence to confirm he definitely wasn't. Could someone please confirm whether or not he was a party clown; and if he was, cite it, or if he wasn't, remove it. Thanks. Rotten Tardises (talk) 16:15, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

No biography?
[edit]Someone recently edited the page and removed the entirety of his biography and career, so now his page only discusses his death with a sentence or two about his personal life. Is there a reason the Biography and Career tabs have been completely removed? Very confusing and rather disrespectful to remove these from his page... there's more to Paul than just his death, ya know. 2603:7080:D83C:6426:A852:70F5:C4C7:8690 (talk) 04:39, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
