There is a little mistake about the channel crossing.

The first gliderpilot cross the Channel was the british Berardmore. He started at 19.06.1931, one day before Kronfeld. He started from Lympne, by bungee, land at St. Inglevert, direct for Kronfeld eyes. Kronfeld must win the price (from Daily Mail - 1000 Goldpounds; in these days ca. 20.000 Reichsmark) to pay for the "Austria", his new glider, the bigiest and high-technic glider of his time (Price: 30.000 Reichsmark). So he started at the new day at St. Inglevert at 6pm by bad sight. German Pilot Werner Weichelt (his world record to fly a plane backwards over hours is not canceled in our days!) towed the "Wien" at 3000m. At 7pm Kronfeld still glide over France. Attent by Weichelt in his Klemm motorplane he landed at airport Swingate at 8.30pm. For the "Daily Mail Price" he must restart at the same day. At 9pm Weichelt towed Kronfeld again in the sky. In the darkness Kronfeld lost his contact to Weichelt. Flying by instruments he find the little airfield and land at St. Inglevert by night.(Reference: "The Sailplane" and "Daily Mail" in these days)

Kronfelds FAI world records are: 20.07.1929 Streckenrekord with „Wien“ - 142,42 km from Wasserkuppe to Hermsdorf (Thuringia, near Gera) at the 10. Rhönwettbewerb 1929. Höhenrekord with „Wien“ - 2281m at the 10. Rhönwettbewerb 1929. Streckenrekord with „Wien“ - 149,42 km from Wasserkuppe to Sienlas near Bayreuth at the 10. Rhönwettbewerb 1929. 30.07.1929 Höhenrekord with „Wien“ - 2589m at the 10. Rhönwettbewerb 1929. For these international records Kronfeld won the german Hindenburg-Pokal für Segelflug 1930 (Hindenburg-Cup for gliding).

Kronfeld also was a famous pilot in Belgium and France. He won the Grand Prix du Puy-de-Dome in 1933.

In 1933 Kronfeld and Sir Gilbert Walter, Royal Aeronautical Society, advertise gliding flights in india. Kronfeld try to come to terms with the director of the indian civil airforce, but there are no documents that a visit happens.

From 1935 to 1939 he is owner of the BAC-Ltd. in Hansworth. British pilots make a few records with his BAC drones and Kronfeld super drones.

In WWII he teached gliderpilots for D-Day. At 2.6.1943 he became the Air Force Cross (A.F.C.) for exceptional valor, courage and devoting to duty while flying, though not in active operations against the enemy.

Death additions[edit]
