Sri Lankan Tamils in India[edit]

Sri Lankan Tamils in India refers to the people who migrated from Sri Lanka to at various time, though they may be Sri Lankan origin or Non resident Sri Lankans.... --JAIKAYY 06:00, 25 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jai Kumara Yesappa (talkcontribs)

Sri Lankan Tamils in India only refers to one Sri Lankan people when there are many that are in India weather in great or small numbers. Sri Lankan Tamils are a part of all Sri Lankan people and therefore should not have its own page dedicated to one ethnic group. There is no need to have a Sri Lankan Tamils in India page or Sinhalese in India page it is stupid when both the ethnic groups come from the same country, Sri Lanka.--Blackknight12 (talk) 06:25, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sri Lankan Tamils in India is more appropriate because, I see no Singhalase community thriving in India.... So, this title is more appropriate.... this article deals with Sri lankan origin Tamils in Tamil Nadu as well.... --JAIKAYY 08:13, 25 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jai Kumara Yesappa (talkcontribs)
Indian Tamils in Sri Lanka cannot be called as Indians in Sri Lanka because, they included both Indian origin people and Indian citizens in Sri Lanka, same way Sri Lankans in India cannot appropriate it may exclude the Sri Lankan origin people in India. --JAIKAYY 08:30, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Firstly just because one ethnic group from Sri Lanka is "thriving" in India and another is not does not make it appropriate for that ethnic group to have its own article when they are clearly from a country where there are many other different kinds of people. People in other countries do not have to "thrive" to get an article explaining there status and the Sri Lankan Tamils arn't really thriving themselves either, most of them are refugees, you should know you created the article. So you contradicted your self there.
Secondly, your second statement is absurd and does not make sense. All that matters is if you are Indian or of Indian ancestry and you live in Sri Lanka then you are Indian Sri Lankan or an Indian in Sri Lanka, whether you have citizenship or not that does not matter. It is the same with Sri Lankans in India.
When you create or edit something on Wikipedia you have to leave you personal ideas and beliefs behind. Wikipedia is no place for bias or someones thoughts.--Blackknight12 (talk) 08:59, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hye Hye ! there is no bias or personal view here... Hailing from Malayalam family in Tamil Nadu, I donot need ant personal views.. I created this article especially for Sri Lankan Tamils who live in India especially in those areas of Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala. -- JAIKAYY 17:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Notable people[edit]

V. Akilesapillai, Yogaswami are in no way connected with India...

Eelattu Poothanthevanar, Arumuka Navalar, though visited India but they not resided in India for long period. Its like Sri Lankan Cricketers visit India for a purpose to play games cannot taken as Sri Lankan people living in India... so relate in that way.... so give a reasonable edit and good contribs... --JAIKAYY 08:30, 25 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jai Kumara Yesappa (talkcontribs)

I got those two from List of people from Tamil Nadu so then this page must be wrong? And if you are adding people remember to source them, otherwise anybody could be added, or they would be deleted.--Blackknight12 (talk) 09:09, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I hope List of people from Tamil Nadu may be wrong , you have to talk in the respective page and concerning with the people most of people I already gave the sources. If any body ready to challenge with right sources. I have no problems and most welcome. -- JAIKAYY 17:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Singhalase people[edit]

The number of Sinhalase in India is still doubt because, credibility of Joshua projects is often misrepresented and cannot taken as complete and good census, though it can taken as a source as of now, Ethnologue does not list Sinhalase language in India. Though it listed Maldivian ... Ethnologue is more credible one to cite.. So more credible source is needed for Sinhalase people count in India. --JAIKAYY 08:35, 26 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jai Kumara Yesappa (talkcontribs)

Same Joshua project listed Telugus in Sri Lanka as 134,000, [1] but Sri Lankan census never had such a details. --JAIKAYY 08:38, 26 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jai Kumara Yesappa (talkcontribs)

Why would there be any doubt in credibility of Joshua project? It is used in many other articles such as Azerbaijani people, Palestinian people, Palestinian diaspora, Russian diaspora, Nguni people, Berau people, Greek Mexican and more.--Blackknight12 (talk) 08:58, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Joshua project always gave us a rough numbers and most cases it's not complete and actual figures, Greek Mexican cited couple of other citations and Berau people doesnot cite the source properly, it's the case in other articles too.. so some other credible citations is needed, may be can try from Sri Lankan websites or Sri Lankan high commission websites in India or Indian census... though as of now, we can take Joushua project as a source, there is nothing wrong on you, but more credible sources is needed ... --JAIKAYY 16:12, 26 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jai Kumara Yesappa (talkcontribs)

  • Support This article is created only for the people group who lives in Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala, Karnataka and Orissa. Though these people who came from Sri Lanka, there is much difference between usage of two words, because Sri Lanka is a multi ethnic country, term Sri Lankans is not necessary refer to only Tamils and concerning with Tamils wo came to India during British Raj, those family who have connections with Sri Lanka they tend to claim them as Jaffna Tamils not consider them as Sri Lankans[1]. --JAIKAYY 17:23, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose Sri Lankan Tamils come from Sri Lanka and there is also a population in India, however there are also Sinhalese people who live in India and the fact that both these ethnic groups come from Sri Lanka should mean that two separate articles on two ethnic groups from the same country is not needed. Therefore the title "Sri Lankans in India" will account for all Sri Lankans living in India.--Blackknight12 (talk) 07:16, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. This article, by its title, seems to suggest that it was intended to cover all people of Sri Lankan nationality, regardless of their ethnicity, residing in India. If a specific article on Sri Lankan Tamils is necessary, it can be created separately without moving or affecting the existing article. Regards, SBC-YPR (talk) 12:13, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This Article I created specifically for Ethnic group call themselves Sri Lankan Tamils or Ceylon Tamils or Jaffna Tamils or Elavars in India. To include all Sri Lankans expatriate in India please create a new article and dont vandalize the pages and also dont move the article and confuse the readers. --Jai Kumara Yesappa (talk) 14:30, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To SBC-YPR, I created this article in the name title Sri Lankan Tamils in India, but quite name changes and few addings it made confused by Mr.Black Night, so I changed the name back to the Sri Lankan Tamils in India and created a separate article for Sri Lankans in India, so that he can be satisfied and no more confusions and name changes..... --Jai Kumara Yesappa (talk) 14:48, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
