Honouring Indigenous Writers Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
[edit]This author appears on the Honouring Indigenous Writers author list. This Wikipedia event seeks to improve the coverage and raise the profile of Indigenous writers on Wikipedia. Our planning group has had a number of discussions to figure out a way to ensure this project is working in good faith with Indigenous writers. At the core of our discussions was the desire to ensure the project respected cultural integrity and to ensure Indigenous perspectives and experiences guided the decision-making processes. As a part of our event, we asked authors what kind of information they would like to see represented in their article. This is what Stephen sent (trimmed to what might be relevant to a WP article):
- list of genres he writes includes“comic books”
- cut out WCB/Clev/the Velvet, as that’s ten years gone. Something like this would maybe play better: Originally from West Texas, Jones now lives in Boulder, Colorado, where he teaches in the MFA program at University of Colorado Boulder.

Creating book pages
[edit]I'm compiling sources to create more of the book pages - it's kind of been a personal project to try and make articles for all of SGJ's books. It's kind of wild that he's such a big name in the horror and literary fields, but most of his books don't have articles. Offhand most seem to pass NBOOK.
I've got a list of sourcing going here, if anyone wants to work on them as well. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 13:21, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- I know that his page is also popular for student assignments with WikiEd, so if anyone with one of their classes sees this, feel free to take on any of the books on said list. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 13:22, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- It looks like there was a period of time where his books were known within the horror community but didn't gain the type of coverage Wikipedia requires to pass NBOOK. I'll still keep searching and I haven't really looked at book coverage of SGJ's stuff, so it's still possible there may be enough coverage there.
