[apparently he waited until his sons are in London and then defected] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.187.91.182 (talk) 07:47, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Age[edit]

This New York Times story has his age as 55 as of 2016-08. I'm not quite sure how we can represent that, other than as date of birth "circa 1961"-- The Anome (talk) 15:19, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Oh family[edit]

This, stating that his wife is a relative of O Jung-hup, is also interesting, although I'm not sure it counts as a citable WP:RS. -- The Anome (talk) 15:49, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Highest[edit]

I came across the description of Thae Yong-ho as the 'highest-ranking' North Korean defector at this article and at Hwang Jang-yop. This appears to be incorrect, Hwang is unquestionably the most prominent defector; serving as head of DPRK's legislative assembly for more than a decade while Thae was simply a deputy ambassador. And going by the list of North Korean defectors in South Korea at least four North Korean ambassador's have defected. The "highest" label seems to be media sensationalism than actual fact, for this reason I have removed this labelling/description from both the articles. I agree completely. Good call, Gotitbro. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 14:11, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Article title spelling?[edit]

Spelling of his family name is inconsistent - Thae vs Tae. Which should we use? QueensanditsCrazy (talk) 03:07, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
