Occupy Pedophilia[edit]

I am adding a link to Occupy Pedophilia in the links section since in its basic concept it is very similar to TCAP. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilya-42 (talkcontribs) 17:40, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

They are not "very similar." TCaP is a series about catching pedophiles. OP is a bigoted, anti-LGBTQ campaign carried out by homophobes, led by a Neo-Nazi. It would be more appropriate to inlcude OP in articles on the Westboro Baptist Church or the murder of Matthew Shepard. Nightscream (talk) 16:48, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What's going on with Hansen VS Predator?[edit]

Chris Hansen did that fundraiser to make a new To Catch A Predator, and then after getting the money, he just joined Crime Watch Daily, filmed a few pedos being caught, and scrapped the idea years ago. He said we'd be getting a full show, not that he'd abandon it after barely anything to go do something else. I can't find any explanation for this. --Reversalmushroom (talk) 17:12, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Nightscream edit summary[edit]

Hi @Nightscream! I'm responding to the edit summary you left for this edit to try to address some of your concerns/questions.

"This is already covered elsewhere in the article, merging it with that;" I added the Murphy investigation as its own entry under "Investigations" because it was a separate investigation, Conradt and his suicide were only one part of the episode. However, since it now appears the episode is now adequately covered under the "Suicide of Bill Conradt" section, I do not plan to re-add it.

"Why did you included expositional wording for a passage this far down in the article, when what the series is has already been established???" My edits were heavily derived from @ThomasCuneo's edits on December 31, 2022 that you removed only citing issues with WP:V/WP:CS/WP:NOR rather than wording. I re-added much of his text with WP:RS, and removed any text or claims that I could not find sources for. In hindsight, some the expositional wording was not necessary and could have been shortened and/or made simpler.

I would like to continue to add some of the remaining episodes using @ThomasCuneo’s text as a start when I get some time. Do you have any concerns or objections to this? Are there any issues in particular with the wording that you feel needs to be addressed or otherwise changed? Thanks! Wikipedialuva (talk) 07:02, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Wikipedialuva: Thanks for reaching out to me. I have no objections to mentioning other episodes, as long as the material is supported by secondary sources. Thanks. 13:25, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Use of the term "pedophile"[edit]

@FMSky: Hi! I noticed in this edit, you changed "adult men" to "pedophiles" in reference to those who showed up at the stings. According to Merriam-Webster (and other WP:RS), pedophilia is defined as "a psychiatric disorder in which an adult has sexual fantasies about or engages in sexual acts with a prepubescent child". The (now defunct) Wikipedia:WikiProject Pedophilia Article Watch defines it as "attraction -- obligatory attraction, generally -- to children, up thru age 11 more or less." The majority of decoys were not portrayed as being prepubescent, and some of the decoys were portrayed as being as old as 15, which does not meet the definition of "pedophilia". The article notes (with a WP:RS) that even Chris Hansen does not feel those who showed up to the stings fit the definition of "pedophile". I therefore feel as if the edit should be reverted or a more accurate term be used, such as one that refers to Hebephilia or Ephebophilia.
