Peta[edit]

This article seems to mention peta a lot and for its references —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.42.174.123 (talk) 17:12, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it seems to me that PETA is the authority for this incident. Possibly the article should be flagged for non-neutral point-of-view? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.180.197.28 (talk) 21:43, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted phrase[edit]

I have deleted the phrase "onto a blue car". Why is it relevant that Tyke collapsed onto a blue car before she died? Problematic anthropocentricity[edit]

Hi, I would like to add a section to reduce this anthropocentricity but I'm not sure how to proceed, & was wondering if I could get some guidance.

Firstly, in the 'Aftermath' section of the article, the focus of 'animal rights' is presented as: don't let circuses mistreat these animals! It will result in tragedies - as in, people dying and children being traumatised!

Well I don't think that's the point. I think animal rights are about the animal. I think she should not be forced into captivity, fullstop, period, free from any importance on humans at all.

And secondly, I think it is grossly unfair that the deaths and psychological trauma Tyke causes are presented, & not the psychological trauma she had been through for over 15 years.

Let me know how I can go about adding these necessary viewpoints, or I shall have to do it with or without help.

Thanks!

Some material copied from Circus article[edit]

On 13 February 2023, I copied some text (with the accompanying footnotes) from Circus#United_States into the section Tyke_(elephant)#Background. Mksword (talk) 17:19, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
