Needs work
[edit]This article needs work...Modernist (talk) 01:51, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
- It seems pretty obvious to me that 64.147.147.50 (talk) is attaempting to do just that by removing material that does not belong in the article, but keeps getting reverted. For example, the list of world leaders, non-US atheletes, and other information that rightfully belongs in the generic 1950s article, but not here. -- Tom N (tcncv) talk/contrib
- The article is not The United States in a 1950s Vacuum. The removal of contextual information undermines the meaning of the article; the US in the 1950s has important contextual meaning with the rest of the world. World leaders matter, as do figures auch as Johansson who although not American he won and lost his title in the United States. Likewise the United States and American athletes participated in those Olympic games that are mentioned. Improvements are needed, wholesale deletions without reason are not...Modernist (talk) 00:57, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Article name
[edit]I think the title would be more regular if it was called 1950s in the United States, what do you guys think? ShadeofTime09 (talk) 19:54, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Proposed merge of United States in the 1950s into History of the United States (1945–1964)
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was to merge . Bluealbion (talk) 15:40, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
There is no other article in the United States in the xxxxs series and the article already has a lot of the same content that History of the United States (1945–1964) has. – BrandonXLF (talk) 00:02, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- agree....the duplication is not useful. Rjensen (talk) 03:53, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- I also agree that it would make sense to merge, possibly having "United States in the 1950s" be added as a header/section for the article "History of the United States (1945-1965)". Given the format of the latter article, however, it might be best to simple integrate the information, rather than have the 1950s be a separate section. Μα6π (talk) 15:25, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- Everything from the article has been added now, some sections integrated a little better than others. Article to be merged. Bluealbion (talk) 15:38, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
