I Wanna Dance with Somebody (film)Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody – Per the official social media and website, this appears to be the new (full) title of the movie. • Oppose. The poster shown in the article and the trailers just call it I Wanna Dance with Somebody. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:26, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, that is the old title. If you got to the website I linked above, the poster there has the new full title Babar Suhail (talk) 16:58, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I saw a trailer for it the other night. Still being called just I Wanna Dance with Somebody. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:25, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The film too, having seen it, uses that title. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:08, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Per new poster and promotion to back this up. conman33 (. . .talk) 17:13, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. While it’s the technical official name of the film in marketing, I feel it’s fine leaving it as it currently is for simplicity sake, much like how Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) is simple titled "Birdman (film)" (that being said, not worth a long argument over haha). TropicAces (talk) 19:06, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. See the new poster and offical website. LancedSoul (talk) 19:09, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. I seriously doubt that's the onscreen title (if someone wants to report back otherwise, let me know). I'm not going to argue, as has been said it's not worth a long argument, but it's an oppose from me. YouCanDoBetter (talk) 23:23, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment YouCanDoBetter having seen the film, the opening title card does not include the "Whitney Houston", so I feel comfortable leaving the article title as-is. TropicAces (talk) 18:33, 26 December 2022 (UTC)tropicAces[reply]
The words Whitney Houston are displayed in the background text behind the subtitle I Wanna Dance with Somebody on the release print so the film is indeed titled Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody. 47.215.230.95 (talk) 08:04, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support It's a support for me. See official site, Cinemark, Fandango, MPAA, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Empire, Box Office Mojo, The Numbers Mike Allen 15:32, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom. Official title, as proven, preferred to disambiguation. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery does not include "A Knives Out Mystery" in its opening title, so the onscreen title can be similarly noted in the lede. -- Wikipedical (talk) 20:06, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Given it was Whitney Houston's song, I fail to see how this is much of a disambiguation. The disambiguator "(film)" is a far better one. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:08, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: Per nom and subsequent findings, but I’ll also add: The site didn’t budge on Birds of Prey primarily because Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey was a post-release title, while this addition came under the wire pre-release--108.41.81.126 (talk) 22:29, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

reviews[edit]

How the film could receive "mixed reviews" if it was not even released yet??? 83.8.114.78 (talk) 11:57, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Those are critical reviews, not audience reviews. YouCanDoBetter (talk) 17:49, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The movie was screened in advance for critics, as is common in the industry. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 23:24, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
