  • New enough (created 12 June, nom 17 June); long enough. QPQ done. The hook checks out with online citation #3. The text is objective, neutral and fully referenced. I made spot checks for possible copyvio and close paraphrasing. There is one long duplicated phrase describing his employment position, but I believe it would be difficult to rephrase that without changing the meaning, and quotation marks would be inappropriate. No further examples found. No problems with disambig links or with access to external links (full manual check done). The article is no longer an orphan, so I removed the orphan banner. I removed this from prep some days ago because I thought the hook was uninteresting but obviously forgot to restore the nom for further discussion, rectifying that now, my apologies to the nominator for the oversight. Gatoclass (talk) 03:51, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
  • @ Gatoclass. I can't see what the the problem is with the hook. A high proportion of people who browse Wikipedia are interested in subjects such as history, or in academic aspects of great events such as D-Day. When I saw this on my watchlist today, I followed up the hook links again, and enjoyed with great interest the link to the Diane Rehm site, where there is a copy of the Prologue to the show, as spoken by McManus. I don't think that our readers always need to be hooked by shallow and ephemeral stuff aimed at school students. That kind of stuff is great fun but we need serious stuff too. Here is a respected academic speaking out on a popular show about a great event on an important anniversary. Military experts appear on TV all the time, it's not at all unusual. I'd still like to see a better hook for this. Gatoclass (talk) 07:49, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
