Sports selections[edit]

I like the idea, but I'm not sure about the seemingly arbitrary choice of sports. - Dudesleeper · Talk 06:57, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The original idea was to list every sport+game with a maintained portal. --B (talk) 22:21, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That should remain the idea. If other stuff is in there, it should be removed immediately, since this is a navbar to sports portals. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 06:18, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian sports portal[edit]

I have reverted the bold edit of the removal of the Canadian portal link that has been here for years. Not sure the logic in deleted a related portal? Is there a problem with the portal? As seen above the template is for all related sport portals. The reason given thus far is its not an individual sport..but nor are a few others like the Olympic etc. -- Moxy (talk) 02:54, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Its only been here for years because you have reverted other attempts to remove it without a rationale. Sports in Canada is out of scope and confusing in the template's current form. Games and Olympics and Paralympics should be removed for the same reason. Perhaps its preferred use could be explained in the template documentation: ie "This is a list of sports-related portals". Moondyne (talk) 04:04, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You need to be more clear here as you seem to be saying they are not sport related. They are main overview portals about sports - in the case of the Olympic portals they are of major significance to a wide range of our readers. May be best to ask for some outside help here because thus far the reason for removal is that they are not sports related - when in fact to me it looks like they are main overview sports portals. As for the ONE revert of the same edit 2 years ago - the reason for the edit was "(remove "canadian sports", as this browsebar cannot possibly include all and every country in addition to all sports)" ...it was reverted because there are no other country sports portal. Do we hide the Canadian portal because other countries dont have one yet? Should we orphan from the template 3 or 4 of the main sports portals? Why not provided navigational help to all sports portals? -- Moxy (talk) 05:43, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My point was "sports-related" as opposed to the more general "sport-related". A subtle but different meaning. I hope that's clearer. Moondyne (talk) 07:41, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That is... but why be so specific if it only effects a few links especially if those articles cover a huge amount of sports related articles? I could understand if there were so many that they could be split..but spiting off just 3 or 4 is not all that helpfully to our readers. -- Moxy (talk) 07:54, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK, documentation page updated. I'm happy with that. Moondyne (talk) 02:49, 16 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
